Right, I suggested this in another thread so let me start it, I'll try to keep a summary at the top of advice.

I'd want advice in 5 categories for what players can do to improve their game play. We're talking not only CW but in general in randoms; i.e. things you've picked up that were either a "Aha" thing or helped you to do better. I'll start to add some.

    General
    Arty
    Heavy
    Medium
    TD

Commanders cupolas are pretty much always easy points to penetrate with the bonus of squishing the enemy commander. If you're face hugging someone with an almost impenetrable turret, many US, any high tier tanks, it's a good choice to go for.

    General
    • Always stock the small repair kit, health kit and fire extinguisher on all tanks. Use repair kit for ammo rack (and gun if sniping), health kit for loaders (and gunners if sniping) and fire extinguisher for putting out the fire directly. The reason to limit the use of the kits is to ensure you can pump out damage, commander, radio man, driver etc. are nice to have but they don't increase your damage as much as loader (and sometimes gunner).
    • Don't be aggressive; most PUG players charge in as a mad gunner and die quickly for their efforts. Sit back and let them come then pick them off slowly; by letting your team suicide they will damage tanks you can kill easier!
    • You earn silver according to damage; make sure to damage tanks for full damage rather then go for easy kills if you need cash.
    • Always upgrade guns as far as you can on a current tank that you can use on your next tank up; this reduces your pain grinding with a worse gun and gives you better damage for your current tier.
    • Make sure you've understand this list of weak spots for T8 or higher tanks. Understanding such weak spots make a world of difference when facing them front on and doing damage (including being able to solo a T95 in a E75 front to front).
    • Commanders cupolas are pretty much always easy points to penetrate with the bonus of squishing the enemy commander. If you're face hugging someone with an almost impenetrable turret, many US, any high tier tanks, it's a good choice to go for.
    • You can make a noticeable difference in a PUG game over time, they got 15 morons, your team only got 14.
    • If you want to earn cash or exp in WoT nothing beats premium account status (50% more exp and silver).

    Arty
    • Ctrl + right click on the minimap takes you there instantly
    • Aiming further to the left/right of your target when needing to move and hitting space when over target will minimize the scope bloom compared to moving target reticule directly on target and stopping.
    Heavy
    • Playing a heavy tank don't make you immune to damage; only slightly less likely to take it so don't go charging off alone.

    Medium/light
    • You're not a heavy tank; don't try to play like one but go for flanking instead.
    • Spotting enemy tanks gives you zero exp; spotting enemy tanks that then take damage counts you as having done 50% of the damage to the tank.

    TD
    • You're a glass cannon that got limited scope and slow turning speed; play accordingly by either being the one leading the charge or sniping from the back.

Not always the case. This is more suited to a Heavy | TD

    Medium | Light

    • If playing a medium or light your driver & engine are key to your play style and staying alive! Therefore these should be a priority when using repair/medic kit.
    • When you are playing a medium or light don't be afraid to change position or tactic depending on how the battle plays out. (A good example of this was shown the other night by bruffio (in the batchat) leaving base when it was being attacked in lakeville to go around through the valley to get behind the enemy giving them two sides to fight. Yes the batchat is faster than other mediums but they are capable of doing this as well).
    • Don't try and take out arty in the beginning of the game, hold back until you know where the enemy tanks are positioned and are engaged in a fight this will provide an opportunity to break through. If the break fails and you don't quite get the arty it normally means tanks have pulled back giving your team less to fight.

    General

    • Don't charge off on a suicide mission but don't camp at the back of the map you may get yourself overwhelmed.
    • If playing a heavy with decent armour don't be afraid to push your team usually follow to support.
Also this is a good post to look at on the forum, positive it has already been posted by a member already. http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F82680-rofls-guide-to-playing-better-and-your-win-rate%2F=

My philosophy is short, you never succeed or enjoy a battle when you are dead, patience is a virtue, the more you have the better you will play. all of the greatest military strategists of all time got to where they are by thinking first then acting. my 2 cents :eek:

    this relates mainly to heavies.

    1. if your facing the enemy head on, its a good idea to angle your tank and show them your side. the auto bounce angle is 70%, but you can show him 50%.
    .
they usually cant resist this big target and turn back a little when you see his gun turning. it usually ends up with a bounce or you get tracked ( no damage ), so you need to be at a safe distance in case they flank you after you are tracked. in the case of the E-100, you should also angle your turret the opposite way showing him a V.

    2. dont take on a maus head on. its worth taking a hit to get behind him or side on first. if your are in a T54 against a maus 1 on 1 , the best place to go is park beside him. his gun wont depress enough to hit you.

3 . one of the worst mistakes i see on every random battle is people poking out around corners firing at tanks that are showing frontal armour. they expose their own sides to get off a shot at the enemies front.
if you have to go around the corner ( for instance you need to push ), go out at the right angle showing the enemy your front.
