I have a student account with BOI. Bought a bank draft a few months back and because my account is a student account they didn't charge me for the bank draft.
Bought one for the same amount this week and was charged €2.40 .
I know its not a lot of money but I'm just annoyed by stupid charges that BOI always slip onto my account and am just wondering was this a mistake or what has changed since the last time I bought one?

The only mistake was they didn't charge you the first time.

50c of it is Government Stamp Duty which you would have to pay anyway.

Students don't pay quarterly transaction charges.

They are liable for service charges.

Purchasing a bank draft falls under the latter category.

Tell the bank you were not charged the last time and offer to pay it now. :)

They may have to manually apply the fee. When you got the draft the first time they must have forgotten to do this.
