The other day my Nokia 6300 inexplicably stopped working: suddenly decided no sim card was inserted, and now whenever I turn it on it says there isn't a sim inserted. It isn't a problem with the sim card because I've tried others in it and it's the same.

I thought I'd update the firmware to see if it helps... and Nokia PC Suite is telling me I need a sim inserted if I want to upgrade. WTF is this ****?

Did you try that sim card in another phone as well as a different sim card in that phone?
You can then determine if it's the card or the phone.

    Yes.

    Yes.
Then either email Nokia asking why they require a working sim card, replace the broken sim card with the working borrowed one and update the firmware or stop trying to update a broken phone.???
