Where can I install my heated towel rail?

Hi Friends

I wish to install a standard chrome heated towel-rail on a wall that is over a long shower tray. The rail is heated by water (the old rad pipes) and has no electrical parts.

The plumber siad he thinks its against regulations to have it in this position. In the Uk, the position over a bath/shower is called Zone 1, and no electical appliances should go there. I have no idea if that zoning system applies in Ireland or what the regs are for installing heated towel rails.

Mine has no electrical parts as mentiomed above, so does anyone know can I place it there or is the plumber just being awkward as it would require a little extra piping.

Any comments would be greately appreciated.

Is the towel rail electric or plumbe?

The rail is heated by water (the old rad pipes) and has no electrical parts.

I believe the same zone regs do exist here but its in relation to electrical supply and its distances from sanitary ware, not fitting a radiator/towel rail. Your pictures dont seem to work for me but i would recon your plumber maybe looking for an easy way out. :eek:

So you want to actually put the heated towel rail on the wall over the shower tray itself??
