Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Guys I came across this quite by accident, I was googling info on air soft sites and just clicked the link so here I am!!!

Just wondering if any of you experts can give some useful advise, my young lad (11) has been burning the ear off me for close on 10 months now about getting all the gear. I've been to Striker in Airside and the guy there was really helpful with regards to all the do's and don'ts etc but I have warned the young man & his best pal who are joined at the hip!... if I decide to buy into their proposed hobby, they can only indulge if they join a club / association and the "lethal" weapons stay in the house at all times unless they are escorted etc etc etc.

I was hoping to take them out to Stamullen one or two days this week so they can give it all a shot and see how they get on (half of me was hoping they'd be knackered and get bored of the idea!) but it's only open weekends.

So to sum up a few questions:

    1) Is there any organisation they can join? (hoping it will increase and prolong their interest so that they actually get some idea of team spirit as opposed to thinking they can go off into the woods and reinact Rambo!!

    2) Do any of you have any experience of kids getting involved in air soft, would be great to get these two involved with kids their own kind of age group.

    3) Any recommendations for actual sites that cater for kids as well as adults? The one closest to me (I think) would be Stamullen and it was suggested by guy in Striker I'd rather bring them a bit further to a site that's well run (not saying any are not if you know what I mean, it's just the age thing that's bothering me)

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

It's nearly a year in the discussion / you are in your a&*% getting a gun stage but it's taken me that long to warm to the idea and if I'm a 100% honest, I'd actually give it a go myself but I'm not telling the lads that, don't think it'd be very cool to bring the ole one along!! :)

    Thanks

This will break their hearts but they might be waiting a few years yet. No airsoft sites (that I'm aware of) will take on 11 year olds. 14 is the minimum at my local and most places, I think, are 16+.

I know a good few sites allow 12 year olds IF There is a parent or guardian playing alongside them :)

Lads, thanks a lot, I started off thinking oh lordy here we go, they're gonna be devastated but as I read on I remembered, the guy in Striker suggested Stamullen purely because he was sure they allow kids as long as a parent is present. (they'll probably blow the you know what off me!!)

I have mailed another on in the Ratoath area and got a reply saying I should call tomorrow.... fingers crossed and thanks for all the replies.

Wherever I've played in the last two years you had to have an adult present to sign your waver if you were under 18 I have evn seen such extremes as running 'young guns clubs' to completely seperate under 18's from the collage kids and midle aged born again soldiers :D

Which I think is wrong as the best way for new guys to get know the ins and outs of Airsoft is to have them mingle in with the experienced players to soak up the knowledge :)

Playing Vacant there was a kid there about 10-12. I noticed him as I had to run by him like 20 times to get back to respawn...

The age limit in Vacant is 11 and you don't have to stay with them (just drop them off and give us permission to let them play).

Vacant get a lot of kids in all the time, especially on saturdays, they sometimes seperate the really young kids from the adults if numbers are too high. They have 6 full time marshalls so your kids are well looked after.

The only thing is that Vacant is in Naas, Kildare but if your interested sure drop me a pm or go to <snip> Advertising a site outside of the sites sub forum
