Short board lessons

I decided to try my arm at short boarding last year. I would be a very comfortable long boarder but I am finding the transition to short boarding tough. I started to make a real effort with the short boarding over the past number of months (leaving the longboard back at home when heading out, so I can't be swayed when I arrive to the spot). My years of long boarding would appear to have given me some terrible habits that I need to get rid off. I am determined to improve my short boarding ability as I have been thrown back into the category of "kook":). My biggest problem is catching a wave. Im getting punished sevearly as my positioning/pop up/timing is all over the place. When I do catch a wave (rarity) I tend to do well when riding the wave. I am trying to get out more and more to practice, but I was thinking recently that a lesson/instruction might be a good idea in terms of giving me some pointers/tips. Any recommendations? Tend to surf in Cork/Kerry.

Don't know about cork/kerry area but Ben's Surf Clinic in Laninch give good lessons on all whatever board you ride.

Since it sounds like you're fairly experienced longboarding its probably only a matter of time before you get the hang of I would say.

Sit deep inside and work on catching waves, getting faster with your pop up should help
