5 or 6 of us heading to Boston on the 29th of May for the summer. Looking for recommendations on where to get work and where to live? All have bar experience but would nearly prefer outdoor work or 9-5 work if possible. Thanks.

Any tips or recommendations really appreciated! :)

Brighton / Alston area in west boston is fairly Irish and has lots of construction work / landscaping work in that area. Also plenty of bars etc around there!

Seconded if you want to be around the Irish. I would also try get out of your comfort zone and mingle with others. Craigslist is a good resource for finding flats and subleases. Also try around the college areas for work/accommodation since most kids will be away from college during your J1 there. Any questions, let me know.

    Bit of a bump here!

Any more thinking about going to Boston, just wondering if anyone had any ideas about where to look for housing?

    Thanks

I'd be very wary of basing yourself in the real 'Irish' areas of Boston. A lot of them would be quite rough and aren't the sort of places you'd want to spend a summer in.
