Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you're in Dublin of course, otherwise the Liffey idea is ****e.

The Liffey does not originate in Dublin. In fact it is 5 minutes from my house and I'm in Kildare.

    ;)

I let a kitten into my house once, ran under my couch and then did a huge fart, followed by an equally bad Sh!te.Following morning it ran off.
    Never Again.

I always hate the way people joke about being cruel to cats. why hate the kitty?

I hate the kitty because the kitty hates me. I can sense the fecker stealing my soul!

That's right, blame the cute innocent kitten for your poor bowel control.

Is it illegal to shoot someone else's cat with an air gun?

You should not take on a cat, it will win:cool:

    Shooting cats with airguns?!

Not sure about the legality but one thing I do know is that it's only something an unfeeling red-neck idiot would do, probably one with a small weenie! :pac:

Cats get spooked in unfamiliar teritory and can be quite dangerous but all it takes is a good scare (roar at him/clap your hands loudly!) and maybe a splash of water-he'll be gone.simples.

A close family friend of mine has a cat that was hurt badly and made totally blind by some crazy loser of a neighbour that shot at his eyes with an airgun. She's 13 and has severe learning difficulties, that cat is her best friend and a constant source of comfort for her. You can imagine how upset she was..or maybe you can't

All joking aside, it is a bit weird to imagine a cat is trying to kill you!

Uh, not the air rifle anyway. you'd get at least fined for animal cruelty if not arrested I think.

Cats scratching people isn't 'shocking' or anything lol, give it into the ISPCA if you're that scared of a cat.

He started racing in everytime I opened the door.

A neighbour's cat once demanded to be let in (actually waited at the door and when opened, scooted in). The cat checked out every room and gave a review of each (not crazy with the decor, liked the stairs and hallway, was impressed with the space. A bit non-plussed about storage). Then left. Didn't put in any offer :/

My OH has a cat. I hate it and it hates me which suits me fine. It won't even come in from bad weather if I'm in the house - so I have won.

We fell out after the cat pissed in the clothes dryer. The fúcker.

Meh, this is tangentially related and makes me giggle:

Find the cat an evil villain to pair up with, would be my point here, I guess. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,736 ✭✭✭✭kylith

Grab the cat and put it in a box. Take it back to its owner and say that it's taken to hanging around your house and that you wouldn't mind but now it's scratched your girlfriend really badly. Tell them to keep it in their garden, cos if you see it in yours again its next trip will be to a shelter.

Hmm..airguns mentioned multiple times in a thread about cats and the entire airsoft forum hasn't descended on the thread yet...how odd.

Cats are easily scared and their claws instinctivly come out when it happens. They are very unlikely to deliberately claw at you. Just be gentle with them, and make no sudden movements and you'll be fine. I learned my lesson very quickly.

They love exploring and want to examine everything, which is cute and leads to some funny moments. But they do have some bad habits though. They scratch furniture and carpets whilst 'stretching their claws', and can get under your feet...especially on stairs.

They can also be extremely affectionate & needy. My cats constantly jump up onto my lap, or snuggle up against me. I've never been an animal person, but I do like having the cats around.

    Agree 1000% with this.

We have a cat as a pet. Wasn't my idea but I'm fairly fond of her now. She's gone missing a few times for up to 10 days. People must have been feeding her during these times for her to stay away so long.

Bottom line - if a cat has a collar or looks nice and healthy and cared for - it's someones pet. Don't feed it and confuse it. Get your own ****ing cat.

Never feed a cat you don't own because it will take ownership of you.

Well never got the whole cat hate thing.

anyway 2 things you can do .

    1. get the cat to follow you to a neighbors house and start feeding him there.
eventually he/she will just stay over there

    2. Accept it . Handy to keep mice and rats away. and even the most anti cat person eventually turns. so they are not the loyalist of creatures neither are humans. i mean just look at that face http://www.meh.ro/original/2009_09/meh.ro1162.jpg

Cats are territorial animals so he regards your garden as part of his turf. I can understand you not wanting him in the house but like others have suggested throwing a glass water at him should discourage that habit.

On the bright side he'll keep your property vermin free.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,677 ✭✭✭staker

I've a neighbour's cat constantly shtiitting in my garden. If he's some cat-lover's pet, why don't they take better care of him? He's even puked out the back of a shed, I guess he was having an off day.
Same cat sometimes sleeps under my bonnet on the battery come cold weather, and the smell of piss after him is putrid.
Seriously, I don't know who owns the cat, I don't want to do an owner out of a pet by calling the ISPCA, don't want the aggro of an ISPCA van being seen calling to my address by the owners or neighbours.
Is there any repellant or electric fence I can put up?

Should I get an air rifle or just ignore him . Im in two minds . .

Or a Caterpult !!! :) both work. Also mouse traps and pepper normal and spray.

Cats are fiendish and hold a grudge forever, so be warned, you need to be brutal to scare the living daylights out of him so he won't come back.

Most pet cats won't hunt [anymore] except for garden birds which they like, mice are too much of a challenge for them now, and rats, well the cat tends to run away from them, it'd be one mean tommy that would tackle a rat.
