Theres two tar macadam courts up in st Marys school. Also in westside beside the shopping centre. Also you can rent the courts up in Dangan, think you have to book them in the nuig gym..Im sure there's more but can't think of them

There are tarmac ones in Westside adjacent BothárLeChéile

Alternatively, use googleearth to find out which of your neighbours have one and ask them nicely

+1 for Westside, there's 4 courts there and generally nobody using them.

Out of interest - how much was it in the lawn tennis club?

The "lawn" part of the name is a bit of a misnomer. They're astroturf courts with sand. Hurt like hell if you fall on them in shorts!

Galway Lawn tennis club used to have a joining fee as well as yearly membership as far as I remember when friends used to play there.

Also each time you play there is a court fee used to be €2 per hour and in winter you have to pay extra for flood lights.:( These extra charges are on top of yearly fee. Prices may have changed in last 18 months, friends stopped playing too expensive..
