i have my 3rd tank nearly cycled,
it currently has fine white gravel, fake plants(which will be removed),
    x2 marimo moss balls.
i have java moss, xmas moss on the way for it.
im looking to get more plants that are easy to keep.
ie plants for beginers that dont need c02 or fert but still look nice...
any suggestions, does java moss, xmas moss need much looking after?

    Vallisneria sp.
    Bacopa sp.
    Limnophelia sp.
    Anubias sp.
    Microsorum sp.
    Echinodorus sp.

These are all nice and handy.

Any of the anubias ones should do nicely too.

thats great, thanks for the lists of plants.
should i use some substrate instead of the fine gravel or will they do ok with the gravel?

Anubias needs to be secured to a rock or to driftwood rather than planted in the substrate. Apparenly if planted the roots may rot. If tied to driftwood it should eventually root into it.

When you say "fine white gravel" is it coral sand?
If so I would definitely change it as it will also harden your water.

There are lots of good plants substrates made by dennerle, JBL, Oliver Knotts etc that would be much better than gravel on its own. You should try get in to your nearest good shop and have a chat with someone. They can run you through your different options and give you an idea of cost.

There are also lots of good, easy to use ferts available made by tropica and jbl as well. The plants will do much better with them.
