    There are reports that a Derry man has been shot in Buncrana tonight.

    The man, aged 23 and believed to be from the Top of the Hill in the Waterside, was seriously injured after gunmen opened fire through a window of the house he was in. The incident happened in the Links View area of the town. Several reports have said that the young man died at the scene, although Gardai refused to confirm this.

    Witnesses said the gunmen tried to break down the door of the house without success and shot through a window, fatally injuring the young Derry man.

    Gardai in Buncrana have confirmed the incident saying that a male was shot at a house in the town at around 9.20pm tonight. The spokesperson said the Investigating Officer is at the scene. They refused to confirm that the man had died, although reliable sources have said he passed away at the scene.

    Terrible thing to happen in Buncrana hope the people who done it are brought to justice, my thoughts go out to the victim's family
