Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Facebook Defriending

Be careful who you defriend on Facebook :(

I know a few people who get very annoyed after being removed from friends lists, nothing like this though.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2012/0210/breaking4.html
A Tennessee couple who "defriended" a woman on Facebook were murdered in their home by the jilted woman's father and another man, US police said.
"It's the worst thing I've ever seen," said Johnson county sheriff Mike Reece, who has worked in local law enforcement for 27 years.
"We've had murders, but nothing like this. This is just senseless."
He said Billy Clay Payne Jr and Billie Jean Hayworth were killed last month after they deleted Jenelle Potter, the daughter of one of the suspects, from their "friends" list.
Both were shot in the head and the man had his throat cut.
The couple's eight-month-old baby was in the mother's arms, unharmed, when the bodies were found.

I tend not to add psychos myself.

More people need to delete their FB accounts and go out and smell the roses.

Just as well that person was defriended cause she turned out to be a murderer!

Sure she's going to get 'defriended' by everyone now the dozy bint, but sure at least when she checks in at 'the electric chair', she'll get a few likes. Jesus they have to make being that stupid a crime.

Strange thing: I de-friended a bunch of people recently because they're not friends, just old school mates who added me, and two of them have just sent me friend invites again. ???

Or good Christians, turning the other cheek.

    For "Christians" read "Masochistic wierdos".

Women have an obsession with clicking through friends of friends and constantly checking out pictures of 'friends' they never talk to. It's weird.

I don't defriend people. I just hide all their notifications. Who knows how many times that's saved me from being murdered.

I heart Journos. I can just picture the internal monologue...

"What's this? Horrific double murder in Tennessee leaving an infant orphaned at the crime scene? Boooorinnngg! Oh wait, apparently they de-friended some woman the killers knew at some vague previous point on Facebook. Maybe I can word this story to make it appear that was the cause of the whole thing, add a whole weird pop culture angle to the reporting. God I'm so fucking talented."

I don't. There was also a thread on here recently of a boyfriend who masturbates to his girlfriend's friend's facebook photos. There's wierdos on both sides of the gender divide.

Sure is. Turns out the girlfriend had asked him to stop watching porn, so he started using FB for his needs instead. Surely she'd prefer he go back to watching porn now? ;D

This has happened to me numerous times. And sometimes it didn't stop at one invite. There was a second when I ignored the first (after defriending them).

There ought to be a rule.

If you aren't Friends with people in like REAL LIFE, don't add them as 'friends' on Facebook.

There seems to be an inadequacy involved with the friends count.

Nah don't do that. You shouldn't even have to explain yourself in these circumstances, but I've a feeling you'll have to considering the childishness you're dealing with.....so only thing you can do really and if they're p!ssed at you well tough sh!t. They're in the wrong.

I had people getting thick at me before for not accepting them on Facebook / Bebo (as in I never got around to clicking the accept button from their requests).

I guess being friends in real-life is worthless now that we have Facebook............All hail Facebook!

I defriended a girl about six months ago. Totally forgot I did it. I went to mail her on Wed about a gig that was coming up in her home town and saw we were not friends anymore. I mailed her to ask why she unfriended me..................Then it hit me!! Have not heard from her.

Amidst all the confusion of this I am not sure if I am meant to kill her or is she meant to kill me??

When I saw the title, I assumed this was going to generally be about de-friending, and was going to post this story :<

There might be something in that which is why most of the people in my friends list ( all 80 odd ) I know from real life .

Ahh ..you see there's no bullying involved simply because I haven't defriended the person in question and I won't until I find out more but it does highlight the (as mentioned ) ... sometimes childish dilemmas ones has to face .

Hit the nail on the head there.. quiet day in the newspaper office, nothing unusual happening, a few rapes, some drive by shootings, murders, assaults.. all pretty normal.

Starts reading some more details about one, sees the thing were they used to be friends, had a falling out, "defriended on facebook" and wham!! 2 murders..

OMG!!!! Quick, put it on the front page!!:rolleyes:

I've read some serious rubbish in my time in newspapers but this takes the biscuit!! Another moronic article from an idiot parading around as a journalist

And whats worse? The idiots that work in newspapers over here pick up on it and give it even more airtime

Your 'friend' who you have 'defriended', say a few weeks ago or even yesterday, has no idea you 'defriended' them and prob doesnt remember friending you to begin with.
FB just recommends people who are friends of friends or 'defriended' people and just asks you to friend them. You dont have to and you dont have to accept their request at all! I have about 20 people pending for friending from my school days, I havent spoken to any of them in 10 years, why the fcuk would I be-friend you now?

God I hate FB, I just use it to keep up with one or two friends and to follow Tech News or some other such sh!te like that.

People being defriended tonight anyway. Something to do. :pac:

It's good to have a facebook 'friend' clear out.
    - People you wouldn't stop to and talk to in the street, and especially people that you would ignore/blank
    - People you wouldn't pick up the phone and talk to
    - Anyone that you wouldn't want to see what you're up to

I think some people equate the amount of facebook friends that they have to the amount of real friends they have.

That's the thing I hate ...having to explain but I might just tell him to leave me out of it .I think there might be more to this ie , ( his ego may have been dented out of place ) which is why I wont just unfriend this person on demand

I wouldn't defriend someone, in real life or otherwise, simply because my so-called friend expects me to.

I'd be more likely to think less of the person who asked me to.

Exactly so I may have to defriend this person who's an old friend but who I think may have other motives for requesting this and I'm ' slightly ' curious as to why .

Complete and utter cunts! Usually when I see this I delete them myself.
