I recently 'unfriended' someone I used to be friends with a few years ago. The last time I saw him was about a year ago, and he said a lot of things I found to be really obnoxious and I realised I didn't like him all that much.
Nevertheless, I regret doing this, as doing so instantly made me feel incredibly childish. Something reminiscent of the playground about it. God only knows why I decided to do this after such a long length of time since I last saw him. There could be potential awkwardness at some point in the future as we have mutual friends but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Facebook doesn't notify people that someone has unfriended them, as far as I know.

One of my better friends defriended me a couple of months ago, only figured it out when I went to invite him to something around Christmas, I guess that's me told so! why he's decided not to be friends anymore, well I guess I'll never know.

There's an app called Sync My Friends which shows who has defriended you or deactivated their account.
