Wiring help for Eircom main phone jack

hello

I have this Eicom phone jack in my house.



I am trying to connect an upstairs phone to it and do not know where to wire it. There are two sets of connectors marked "S1 R S2" and "L1 R L2". I have a pair of wires that are Blue and White/Blue going to upstairs phone jack. To where to I connect these? Been trying all sorts of combinations and cannot get upstairs phone to get dial tone.

This doc says "The extension wiring can be connected to the terminals L1 and L2 on the CCU". So this means I connect my two wires to L1 and L2? What is the R for?

Do I connect my two wires (Blue and Blue/White) to L1 and L2 or do I connect to L1 and R?

Probably L1 and L2, R is the ringing circuit, doubt it's used much nowadays.
