New Machine - End of March - Budget €1200~

So I'm planning on a new PC come the end of March, I've built several at this point but have been out of the loop for a few years and have to say I am a little lost with the current GFX cards and processors.

Primarily a gaming machine however requirement to run several (4-5) gaming clients of Eve Online which uses around 600-800mb per client in terms of memory.

I realise end of March is awhile away and a lot can change in terms of specs but looking to get ideas / saving tips and maybe fork out for another monitor. :pac:

By March, there'll be new processors and new graphics cards out (though with that budget, you'll be going for a 7970, which is currently out). Something like this probably:

How's that look? 128GB SSD (hopefully you have storage drives already), 2500K placeholder for 3570K, monstrous cooler for OCing, Z68 motherboard, 7970 graphics card, and a nice quiet case and PSU to top it off.

Nice. Couple of questions just to know where I am.

I'm seeing 850w and 1000w PSU's out now, what exactly would you be running to need these over the 550w you choose?

Is ATI > Nvidia these days or is it a price / fps ?

I've had some bad luck with the outward facing harddrive slots on cases before so that's the only thing I'd probably change out of your design.

550W will power pretty much any single card on the market (though NVIDIA's 780 might surpass this). You'd be looking at 850W for SLI/CF, and 1000W for 3-way SLI/CF, that's about the only thing that'll need that much power.

At the moment, AMD's 7000 series is far better price/performance-wise, though again, NVIDIA's new line might beat this, not sure. They're due out around the end of March, so I'd wait and see before you order either way.

Bad luck? The R3 is one of the best cases out at the moment for noise particularly, and build quality. I have forward-facing hard drive slots in my own case, and I love them.
