Our dog gives the saddest eyes whenever I leave for work too... nice to know you're loved and missed though!

It proves, that animals do have a sense for their owner, some connection, which should always be appreciated.

My cat very often sits outside at the gate or on top of a pillar, waiting for me to come home from work...and as soon as he spots me, he starts purring

My Akita goes to the window sill and rests his head on it every day at 6pm and watches the gate until I get home at half 6.
