Video Editing Software

I'm currently looking for video editing software to edit my local GAA teams games. We will be recording all the games so I want to find some software that would be easy to take highlights from the games. The manager has said that he will pick out all the times of the the clips he wants taken out.

Is there any software out there that I would be able to input multiple start and finish times and the software would be able to pull all the clips out?

    Thanks,
    Paul

I'm sure the feature your looking for exists but it sounds like a fairly specialised effect that may be available as a plug in but I think chopping up the video in an editor would be just as easy.

Software wise you could go with Adobe Premiere elements, as it's easy to use, it's made for anybody but won't have more advanced features. You could go for Premiere Pro but I think that costs in the region of €600.

What your looking to do isn't that complicated. In premiere there is a snip tool so you'd just the times you want and snip the video clip at those points and delete the bits in between that you don't want. It's editing 101 really.

Is the recording digital or tape? If it is digital you can get something like Windows Movie Maker or if you want to spend some money get Sony Vegas pro.

    Thanks for the replies.

The recording is tape but I have a cable ordered to connect the cam to the laptop to convert it to digital.

Yes the editing I want to do is very basic, its just cutting out some clips so the manager can show players the highlights of the game so I'm just looking for the easiest way to do this.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending Corel Video Studio X4 Pro. I bought this from Amazon UK last year and it certainly is the biz for me. No problem selecting multiple short clips from a selected video. It's the only commercial package I've used so can't compare it to others.

Someone mentioned a free package on here a while ago, I'd start there and see how you get on. Window movie maker is even decent enough.

If your just chopping up video a free package would probably be enough.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at it. I have tried cyberlink powerdirector as well and it looks very good.
