There's an interesting article in the Irish Times this weekend on Rangers and how their absence from the SPL will affect Celtic.

Just the one factual error where the writer claims Mo Johnston was the first player to feature for both Old Firm clubs. He wasn't.

The use of the 'H' word is rather disappointing though, particularly in the IT. Anyway...

    *sigh*

Why do journalists feel the need to throw in wrong information, to give people the idea that they know about their topic ?

Rangers never played the day after Kennedy was shot, and I highly doubt there would be booing, just because he was a Catholic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,909 ✭✭✭Coillte_Bhoy

    I agree with you.

Of course I don't believe a Rangers-hater is going to be convinced regardless of what I try and explain.

While I'm honest enough to accept what goes with a certain element of our support, I'm not going to let lies and bull**** go unchallenged.

Ideally, I'd prefer not to of course and simply talk football.

    Hopefully.

thats a reference to my post i presume. So what exactly were the lies and bull**** i posted?

I'm not questioning the why. I know why. It was said that Rangers wouldn't be allowed continue to play in Scotland. I simply said that Cardiff and Swansea both continue to play in Wales. If its not an issue for them, why would it be an issue for Rangers if they ever looked to swap leagues? Obviously it isn't a big an issue as is being claimed.

Cardiff and Swansea did play in the Welsh FA Cup, but once the league in Wales was set up they were invited to join that league system, they said no and remained in the English League system, since this they were unable to play there 1st time in the Welsh FA Cup

No, he claimed he was leaving soon but that he would honour the debt. He did indeed leave, but shirked the money owed. I believe his account is still active though, he's just not using it.

He's around, he's opened a few different accounts since he got perma-banned (he was only perma-banned from AH I believe, but AH is probably his life!). There's no doubt he drops by here for a quick digest on The Sevco FC. Hi Keith! Pay your debts. ;)

And before anyone gives it the "moderator privilege abuse" bit, a quick search on the user name reveals plenty of information in AH threads that anyone can see! :)

Ah ok, I was unaware of the perma-ban. It was long overdue anyway.
I've recieved 2 infractions on this site,
    1. For claiming sewer rats would disown El Hadji Diouf
    and
    2. For calling Keith an imbecile

Don't know, but to 'facilitate' sounds to me like offering assistance to someone, who is not used to the surroundings or circumstances' ;)

Oh dear, it just keeps going on and on and on
    http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/rangers/111126-rangers-league-place-at-risk-as-scottish-fa-insist-signing-ban-must-stand/
Rangers' league place at risk as Scottish FA insist signing ban must stand

Rangers’ prospects of playing in the Third Division remain uncertain because of a stand-off between the Scottish FA and Charles Green over conditions attached to the transfer of the club’s membership.

STV understands Sevco Scotland Limited is currently unwilling to accept the imposition of a 12-month signing embargo, originally placed upon the club by the governing body on May 11.

The Scottish FA want Green to accept the punishment as a condition of membership transfer, despite Lord Glennie ruling at a Court of Session hearing on May 29 that they had acted outwith their powers in imposing the ban on the club.

An appellate tribunal was told to reconvene to discuss a different sanction from within the rule book. This is currently on hold, with Green having the option to ask for membership to be transferred in exchange for the tribunal meeting again.

The sanctions available to the panel are unlikely to be palatable to the club, as they include the potential suspension or expulsion of the club from the Scottish game, as well as a possible exclusion from the Scottish Cup.

Should Green refuse to meet the Scottish FA’s demands, he will be forced to apply for a completely new membership not tied to the former club.

However, as Sevco Scotland Limited does not meet the financial requirements set down to join the organisation, they would not be eligible and would not be able to play football in Scotland.

If Green accepts for the signing ban to be imposed, Rangers will take up a place as an associate member of the Scottish Football League and will play in the Third Division this season. Clubs must have membership of the national association to play in a league.

    Conditions of transfer

The Scottish FA have made clear to Green that they will only transfer Rangers’ membership to his new company if he agrees to the imposition of the registration ban.

If he refuses, the governing body will either transfer the membership but allow their appellate tribunal to reconvene, leaving open the possibility of Rangers either being suspended from the game for an indefinite period or being thrown out of the game altogether.

Should Green decline those conditions, the Scottish FA will refuse to transfer the membership and, as Sevco Scotland Limited do not meet the necessary requirements, Rangers will not play professional football in Scotland at least for the next year.

The Scottish FA also want Green to agree to pay all outstanding football debt as another condition of the membership being transferred.

They also want the new company to take responsibility for any sanctions later imposed by the Scottish Premier League following its investigation into alleged non-contractual payments to players.

At a meeting on Monday, Green told Ibrox employees there would be a “staffing review” following the decision of the Scottish Football League to place the club in the Third Division for the 2012/13 season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭lubo_moravcik

"Green just held a meeting he said :

'' It saddens me to have to announce that there will be major staff cuts being made at Ibrox. It's the only way the Club will survive''

    Then walked out.

I'm told it took the staff longer to get in and sit down.
Just been a staff meeting at Ibrox; staff told they are not at present a member of the SFA as they want to impose further sanctions that they are unwilling to accept and that redundancies will be imposed over the next week or two.

As people have been saying, I can't see them playing anywhere next year. Seems like the shut down is on to realise the profit from the assets.

No one wants to see anyone lose their job, that's the **** part about all of this. Who will be the first to go Bears? Backroom staff, coaches, manager, or the tea lady and receptionist??

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,406 ✭✭✭Pompey Magnus

Pretty disgraceful to continue with the transfer ban, the current club has done nothing wrong and it makes no sense to punish them for the sins of a seperate club no longer in existence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

How the **** can they try and get that signing ban re-instated, when a court has said that it's not part of the possible punishments ?

    Idiots.

Well if an agreement has been reached and they are not backing down on the transfer ban it can only mean.
One we are allowed to replace players that leave or Two Its starting from Sept 1st which was mentioned before but that would mean we couldn't sign players until Jan 2014

Thats the other thing and the only good thing to come out of it as they are still willing to punish us for this and the EBT's then our history is intact
