Hi there, busy Function band seeks a Guitarist with lead vocals and Bass player with vocals.

    Criteria:
Open to ages 25 to 35
Guitarist must have LEAD vocals. Must be a proficient player and singer. Must be a TRUE front man and a 'look' is important.
Bass player must be also be proficient, must have vocals for backing, to be able to take lead from time to time would be a bonus, and as above a look is important.

I am only interested in people will a lot of gigging experience, please do not reply if you do not have experience. You need to be a performer, know the ins and outs of playing functions and have a dedicated, friendly and professional manner. This is a nationwide band so you must be willing to travel.

Any video or audio of you performing if you have any should be submitted. You can PM me for an email address to send relevant info to.

Was just about to reply for this then I just copped the age restrictions. 'Criteria:
Open to ages 25 to 35'

Having played bass and a plethora of other instruments in high end function and touring bands in ireland and europe for over 35 years (im 54) and have just came off a major project I am available for decent work. I have a few questions for you:

    1. Does experience, professionalism, longivity, sense of responsibilty to others (which is lacking in younger me me musicians) not count any more in this country?

    2. As this is a function band playing cover versions, you do not need a pretty young poster boy aiming for boy band mega-stardom! You will be playing Sex On Fire and Good Looking Woman to 8 - 80 year olds at weddings, not a member of Westlife or Robbie Williams backing band?

    3. Last and by no means least, as we say while introducing the lead singer :) Is it not in fact illegal under irish employment legislation for employers to discriminate on the grounds of age? For your benefit, heres the appropriate legislation. Do you claim some sort of exemption from same?
    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/pdf/1998/en.act.1998.0021.pdf

Suppose theres no chance of you publishing the bands name!

Best of luck in your search!

    Mick

Whats the problem here? I'm looking for someone within my own age group wheres the discrimination in that? Does it not say something in the charter about thread spoiling i.e if not interested don't post?
And scooby if I replied to your female vocalist wanted thread and said its discriminating against male vocalists what would you say?
Lets be fair here, if a 16 year old advertised for band members here in his own age group are you really gonna stick a link to legislation on his thread.

I'd have said we already had a male vocalist and needed a female voice to cover the range and variety of songs on the setlist. Think of it as needing a guitarist but not discriminating against bassists. As for the age thing i think if you're over 18 and good enough you should be given a shot.

probass and skoooby: Please pay attention to the forum charter, specifically this part:
    DON’T:
    Spoil threads.

I don't know Mick so he can answer for himself, i just agreed with the jist of his comments. Other than that i was answering a direct question put to me by the op which i believe is not against the rules of the charter.

Mick or yourself have no need to answer anything, what you needed to do was butt out of the thread unless you want to join the band or have something constructive to add.

So send him a PM so that you can both congratulate yourselves in private about how great you both were in successfully spoiling a thread.

No you weren't. Your first post on this thread is here which is you demonstrating your agreement with probass who is not the person who started the thread.

    Thread closed.
dzc: Feel free to start another thread which folks will hopefully treat a bit better.
