Ficus losing leaves

I've a Ficus mixed specimen in the same position for several years now, and it was doing fine with regular new growth.
But for the last 3 weeks it's losing an alarming amount of leaves. There are no signs of disease, no dull leaves, no yellow leaves, no insects. In fact it is losing lovely light green newly grown leaves.
Absolutely nothing has changed in the environment. It hasn't been moved and nothing has been introduced. I'm baffled! :(
    Anyone got any ideas?

It has probably been either under or over watered. Ficus do tend to drop all their leaves if they are not happy.

If it was seriously over-watered see if you can lift the entire root ball out and stand it on a pad of newspaper and leave it to drain off some of the water. You might put it into a bigger pot with some new compost round the edges, which will help soak up the water.

If it was under-watered, obviously, water it. If it is very dry you could mist the leaves. Might be a good idea to give it a light feed when you have sorted the immediate problem.

It might be something that has been slowly developing for a while and is only just showing as dropped leaves.
