Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    MON= REST
    TUES = 16 MILES X 7.22 PACE
    WENS= REST
    THUR= 16 MILES X 7.32 PACE(SAND DUNES X 2)
    FRI= 26 MILES X 7.30 PACE(SAND DUNES X 3)
    SAT= 10 MILES X 6.53 PACE(SAND DUNES + ROAD)

    WEEKS TOTAL = 80 MILES

    THE PAST 2 WEEKS I SHOULD BE HITTING 100 MILES FOR THE WEEKS BUT AGAIN THIS WEEK I WAS IN BITS.
    REALLY BAD CHEST INFECTION AND COULDNT RUN MONDAY.
    TUES SESSION I FELT LIKE DEATH RUNNING.
    WOKE UP WENSDAY AND COULNT GET BY BREATHING RIGHT.
    THURSDAY FINNALLY BIT THE BULLET AND TOOK MYSELF TO THE DOCTORS.
    HE SAID YOUR CHEST IS IN A BAD WAY AND PUT ME ON STEROIDS,INHALER AND ANTIBOITICS AND TOLD ME NOT TO RUN BUT I SAID HEY I HAVE TO RUN,OK SO ONLY 10K MAX AND EASY PACE(oops).
    WENT HOME TOOK THE DRUGS AND HEADED OF AND THE RUN FELT A LITTLE EASIER.(YE HA).
    FRIDAYS RUN FELT EASIER AGAIN SO KEPT GOING AND WAS VERY HAPPY TO GET A MARATHON DISTANCE IN.
    SATURDAYS RUN I WAS ON FIRE,6.53 PACE DOESNT SEEM FAST TO MOST ON HERE BUT I WAS RUNNING THAT WITH THE TIDE IN RUNNING ON STONES AND SOFT SAND,THAT HAD ME BUZZING.
    SUNDAYS RUN WAS REALLY NICE AND INJOYED SOME COMPANY OF 2 LOCAL RUNNERS ON A LOVELY TRAIL.
    VERY HAPPY NOW THAT THE CHEST IS FINALLY CLEARING UP AS IM RARRING TO TRAIN HARD BUT SMALL PROBLEM OF A 7 DAY OVERDUE BABBY TO POP MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT.
    GREAT TO BE BACK.

    WEEKS TOTAL= 90 MILES

    MON WAS NICE TRAIL RECOVERY RUN AND WAS TIRED SO JUST RELAXED AND INJOYED THE SURROUNDINGS.
    TUES I SAID I WOULD DO A GOOD SESSION AS IVE MISSED A FEW OVER THE PAST WEEKS WITH BEING ILL AND THE MISSES WAS BOOKED IN TO HAVE THE BABY IN THE MORNING.
    THE PLAN WAS TO RUN 1 MILE 6.20 AND 1 MILE 7.20 AND KEEP REPEATING UNTIL 16.
    I FINISHED THE RUN ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM THE HOUSE AND BY THE TIME I GOT BACK TO THE HOUSE 3 DIFFERANT PEOPLE PULLED IN WITH THERE CARS TO SEE IF I WAS OK(ARE YOU OK RAY,STRANGE TO SEE YOU WALKING).
    THE 3RD PERSON I SAID FECK OF I JUST RAN 16 MILES HARD AND SESERVE A LITTLE WALK HAHA.
    WENS WAS A NICE RECOVERY DAY IN THE LABOUR WARD HAHA.
    THURS I SNUCK A 10 MILER IN BEFORE THE NEW BABY CAME HOME AND DOWN A FEW HILLS SPRINTS(FIRST ONES SINCE 2013).
    FRI I GAVE THE MISSES A BRAKE AND SPEND THE DAY WITH THE NEW ARRIVAL.
    SATURDAY I HAD TO TAKE THE ELDEST GIRL SWIIMING LEASONS IN THE MORNING SO HAD TO HEAD OF EARLY TO RUN THE 30 MILER.
    FROM THE GET GO I WAS STRUGGLING WITH THE HEAD.
    IT DIDNT WANT TO BE RUNNING IN THE DARK AND COLD,ID SAY I JUST LOST FOCUS BUT GOT IT DONE.
    SUN WAS A BIT OF THE SAME REALLY SO JUST RECOVERED AND RAN ON FEEL.
    I HAD A GREAT LAUGH WITH TWO OF THE LADS AS THEY WERE TAKING THE PISS SAYING WILL RAY BE OUT RUNNING WITH THE CHILD SO I WRAPPED A DOLL UP IN THE PRAM AND CAME TEARING OUT THE DOOR.
    FECKING PRICLESS THE HEADS ON THEM,ONE JUST FROZE AND WENT TO JUMP BACK IN THE CAR.
    VERY HAPPY TO HIT 90 MILES THIS WEEK.
    WANT TO START HITTING 100 MILES A WEEK NOW BUT I DONT THINK THERE ANY POINT IN DOING MUCH MORE.

    WEEKS TOTAL= 105 MILES

    MON WAS NICE RECOVERY RUN AND JUST RAN ON FEEL AND SLOWED WHEN EVER I FELT THE PACE
    TUE WAS A GOOD QUAILTY SESSION AND THE PLAN WAS TO RUN JUST UNDER 6.52 PACE BUT FELT STRONG AND MANAGED 6.43 PACE.
    THESE 16 MILERS IM DOING EVERY TUESDAY ARE REALLY PAYING OFF.
    THERE GETTING EASIER EVERY WEEK WITH LESS EFFORT.MIGHT TRY A MARATHON PB ALONG THE WAY IN TRAINING IF I CAN FIND A HANDY MARATHON NOT TO FAR AWAY.
    WENS I WENT OUT TO RUN A ROUTE TO CHECK THE MILLAGE I WAS PLANNING FOR A FEW LADS ON SUNDAY.
    IT WAS 4 MILES LONGER THAN SHOULD OF BEEN AND IT WAS FAIR WINDY OUT AND TOOK ALOT OUT OF ME.
    AT ONE STAGE I WAS STANDING ON A TRAIL TRYING TO TAKE 1.6 FROM 25.4 AND MY HEAD COULNT DO IT.
    HAD TO TAKE A PEN AND PAPER OUT HAHA.
    THURS I TOOK A REST DAY AS BODY WAS TELLING ME TO.
    BEFORE I WOULD OF NEVER OF DONE THAT AND PUSHED ON,BUT IM EXPERIANCED ENOUGH NOW TO LISTEN TO MY BODY.
    FRI I HAD TO SMALL WINDOWS TO RUN SO RAN TWICE.
    SAT I HAD THE KIDS ALL DAY AND HAD A WINDOW TO RUN LATE SAT NIGHT BUT SAID FECK IT AS THE MILLAGE WAS HIGH AND SUNDAY I HAD A 33 MILER.
    YESTERDAYS RUN WAS SUPER.RAN A MILE DOWN TO MEET THE GROUP AND RAN 32 WITH THEM.
    THANKS DON HANNON,BRIAN ANKERS,PHELIM LYNCH,BILLY HOLDEN,JAY KING,JP THIERNY FOR THE GREAT COMPANY.
    IM DOING LONG RUNS EVERY WEEKEND SO IF ANYONE ON HEAR IS IN TRAINING YOUR MORE THAN WELCOME TO COME DOWN AND JOIN ME ON A LONG RUN.
    IVE SOME FANTASTIC ROUTES FOR YE TO RUN.
    SO 105 MILES AND THATS MY BIGGEST MILLAGE SINCE 2013.STARTING TO FEEL STRONG NOW BUT MORE IMPORTANT THE FEAR OF RUNNING LONG MILES IS GONE.

    Hello Dublin runner:)
    The plan was for donadea was to run it as a training run and do a few extra laps to get a good solid run in.
    But I was running there on Tuesday and banged out 18 mile x 6.37pace and thought to myself jesus im getting in some decent shape here and was thinking of running a marathon pb in a few weeks on the strenghth of it.
    Then I was thinking yesterday on a run that I ran a 50k before in Portumna in 3hr32min and said to myself I just might go for sub 3hr30 in donadea for the crack:rolleyes:
    I be running it on tired legs for sure as I be training non stop up to it bar Friday and the millage be big enough so not sure what to do.
    If I can find someone on the day up there that's running a sub 3hr.30 I might just go for it but im under no pressure to do it.
    THAMES PATH 100 is the main goal:)

    WEEKS TOTAL=103 MILES

    MON WAS NICE RECOVERY RUN WITH A FRIEND AND BADLY NEEDED
    TUES WAS MY USUAL HARD SESSION,PLAN WAS TO KEEP THE PACE UNDER 6.52 BUT GOT CARRIED AWAY AND DONE 18 X 6.37.
    WENS THE PLAN WAS TO KEEP THE PACE AT 7.30 BUT I MET MY LOCAL RUNNING CLUB AND RAN 6 MILE WITH THEM.
    THUR WAS NICE RUN DOWN THE SAND DUNES AND LEGS WERE VERY TIERD THAN ON WITH THE HEAD TORCH AND OUT ONTO THE TRAILS.
    FRI WAS A BADLY NEEDED REST DAY
    SAT I WAS UP AT 5 AM AND HEADED OUT THE DOOR AT 5.15 TO RUN 35 MILE,AFTER 10 MILE I WAS WALKING HOME,IVE HAD TO DEAL WITH SOME ISSUES THIS WEEK OUTSIDE OF RUNNING AND NEVER BEEN UNDER SO MUCH STRESS AND MY HEAD WAS GONE.
    SUN THINGS WERE BETTER AND I WAS VERY DETERMIND TO RUN 40 MILES.
    I HEADED STRAIGHT OUT THE COAST AND HUGGED IT ALL THE WAY TO THE 20 MILE POINT AND TURNED AROUND AND RAN STRAIGHT BAC THE SAME WAY.LONG TO NO WHAT THE ELEVATION WAS ID SAY OVER 5000FT.
    YESTERDAYS RUN WAS THEHARDEST TRAINING RUN I EVER DID AS I WAS SPENT AFTER 9 MILES,NOT SURE HAVE I OVERTRAINED OR JUST THE STRESS OF THING OUTSIDE OF RUNNING,GOT TO 20 MILES NEAR DUNGARVAN AND MY FOOT GOT INJURED,TRIED TO RUN AND WAS GETTING ELECTRIC SHOCKS IN IT AND TOOK THE PHONE OUT TO RING FOR A LIFT,THEN I WAS THINKING I HAVE TO RUN THIS 40 MILER IF IT KILLS ME AND JUST STUCK IN THERE SAYING COME ON GIVE ME 5 MORE MILES ETC TO THE END.
    THAT RUN TESTED ME IN EVERY DEPARTMENT,UNREAL BUT ITS ONE I WILL CALL ON FOR SURE.
    DECIDED TO TAKE TODAY OFF AND JUST RECHARGE THE BATTERIES.

    You are putting my 60 mile taper week to shame! Some great training there. If you can manage to balance the training loads vs. the risk of injury you'll be in some shape come the 100 miler.

    I will say 'howiye' on Saturday. I'll be the lad in all black (Clonliffe). Looking forward to it now despite not having a clue how to run it! Hopefully get to run a few miles together at some stage.

    We get that group together at the start and try help each other along,the miles always go faster with a group as your talking away(not sure I will be chatting much at 6.44s haha)
    sur will give it a lash anyway,im under no pressure as it was always intended to be a training run .

    TUE= INJURED TOE + PHYSIO(SUSPECTED FRACTURE NO RUNNING FOR 2 TO 3 WEEKS)
    WENS= INJURED TOE
    THURS=INJURED TOE
    FRI= INJURED TOE + PHYSIO(SWELLING GONE DOWN AND RESTRAPPED TOE)
    SAT= IRISH 50K DONADEA 31.26 MILES X 6.44 PACE
    SUN= 6 MILES X 8 MIN PACE

    WEEKS TOTAL= 37 MILES

    DISASTER AS LAST SUNDAY I HAD TO JUMP OUT OF THE WAY OF A SPEEDING CAR AND INJURED THE TOE.
    PHSYIO SAID I WOULD BE OUT FOR 2 TO 3 WEEKS.
    BUT I ICED IT FOR 20 MINUTES EVERY DAY IN A STEEL BUCKET AND HAD TO PHYSIO SESSION ON IT.
    WAS SITTING AT HOME FRIDAY AND WAS PAINFULL JUST TO WALK ON IT BUT SAID FECK IT I WILL GO ANYWAY AND START AND IF IT GETS BAD I WILL PULL OUT.
    SO PLEASED I MADE THAT CALL AS RAN A NEW MARATHON PB OF 2.56.59 AND AND NEW 50K PB OF 3.30.37 AND 9TH PLACE OVERALL.
    MY LAST TWO LAPS WERE MY FASTEST SO THAT READS WELL FOR GOING LONGER.
    WAS ON FOR A SUB 3.30 BUT HAD TO TAKE A DETOUR INTO THE WOODS FOR A CRAP.
    LOST 1MIN20 SECONDS AND HAD TO REALLY PUSH HARD TO CLAW THAT TIME BACK.
    EVEN DOE I WAS FEELING THE FATUGIE AND PAIN I HAD A FEW MORE LAPS IN ME FOR SURE.
    IM VERY EXCITED AS I FEEL NOW I COULD KNOCK A SUB 4HR 30 FOR A 39.3 MILE DISTANCE.
    THATS SUB 3HR PACE FOR A MARATHON AND A HALF.
    THINK THATS WHERE I WANT TO GO LATER IN THE YEAR.
    SUNDAY WAS A RECOVERY RUN TO FLUSH OUT THE POKER STIFF LEGS.
    TOE STILL SORE BUT HAVE ANOTHER PHYSIO SESSION THURSDAY SO WILL JUST TAKE ANOTHER EASY WEEK TO REPAIR IT AND THAN I WILL GO BONKERS WITH BIG MILESBRING IT ON AS I LOVE THE SUFFERING.

    Hi Ray. I didn't get to talk to you on Saturday but I was the guy who offered you some bog roll around the 20 mile mark. Your response was classic, something about it not been enough to wipe your nose let alone your arse. That must have been some epic $hit :)

    HAD TO MAKE A BIG DECISION EITHER RUN ALL WEEK AND RISK BEING OUT FOR A LONG TIME AND MAKING THE TOE WORSE.
    TALK ABOUT BEING DEPRESSED ALL WEEK NOT ABLE TO TRAIN.
    FRI I HAD THE DAY OF WORK AND ONE OF THE LADS WAS HEADING UP TO WICKLOW WITH DON HANNON AND HIS CREW SO JUMPED AT THE CHANCE.
    IT WAS THE MOST BEUTIFULL PLACE I HAVE EVER RAN.
    I TRIED TO RUN ALL THE WAY UP TO DJOUCE AND WAS ABOUT 1O METRES FROM THE TOP AND MY TWO LEGS SHOOK LIKE JELLY.
    FIRST TIME EVER THAT HAPPENED TO ME HAHA.
    CANT WAIT TO GET BACK UP THERE.
    NICE LITTLE 10 MILER YESTERDAY ON A FEW COAST HILLS TO TEST THE TOE.
    WAS HARD TO RUN ON IT BUT PAIN EASED THE MORE MILES WE COVERED.
    TOOK THE STRAPPING OF IT THISMORNING AND ITS SORE NOW BUT 3 WEEKS OF HARD MILLAGE STARTS TODAY AS JUST CANT AFFORD TO TAKE ANY MORE TIME OUT.

    STARTED OFF THE WEEK FEELING LIKE I DIDNT WANT TO RUN BUT BLAME THAT ON THE MIND GETTING WEAK FROM THE EASY TWO WEEKS.
    PLAN THIS WEEK WAS TO START THE REAL TRAINING FOR THE 100.
    PLAN WAS TO UP THE MILES SO I DROPPED ANY SPEED SESSION AS WANTED TO START SLOWING THE PACE DOWN TO RACE PACE.
    I WANT TO GET ZONED INTO THAT PACE WERE IT FEELS SO RELAXED AND IN A FAT BURNING STATE.
    RACE PACE FOR ATLEAST 50 MILES WILL BE JUST UNDER 8 MIN PACE.
    TUE AND THURSDAY I TRIED TO DO THAT BUT STILL NEED TO SLOW IT MORE AND WILL NAIL THAT VERY SOON.
    5 MORE HARD WEEKS OFF BIG MILES TO GET MY ENDURANCE WERE I WANT IT AND MORE IMPORTANT THE HEAD STRONG LIKE A FORIEGN LEGION SOLDIER.
    TO GET IT THERE IM GOING TO RUN ALMOST EVERY RUN ON MY OWN AND WANT TO REALLY TRY AND SUFFER.
    NO COMFORTS FOR A WHILE I CAN GARRANTY.
    WITH THE BIGGER MILES ITS PLAYING DICE WITH THE FACT INJURY CAN EASILY HAPPEN SO THE DROP OF SPEED SESSIONS WILL HELP AND MY DIET IS THE BEST EVER,IM TRYING TO GET AT LEAST 7 HOURS SLEEP A NIGHT ALSO AND A PHYSIO SESSION ONCE A WEEK.
    OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS IM FEELING UNREAL AND HOLDING MYSELF BACK TO BE HONEST.
    I NOW FROM THE PAST WHAT BIG MILES DOES FOR ME AND ONLY A WEEK IN I CAN FEEL IT HAPPENING ALREADY.
    YOUR LEGS JUST FEEL LIKE A ROBOT AND THE REST OF ME IS JUST THERE FOR THE RIDE.
    FEEL REALLY STRONG.
    WANTED TO UP SOME OF THEM 16 MILERS DURING THE WEEK TO LONGER BUT HAVE TO WAIT AS I DONT WANT TO PEAK TO SOON.
    STILL 2 MONTHS UNTIL THE BIG GOAL SO PLENTY OF TIME TO UP THE MILES AGAIN.
    IM RARING TO GET STUCK INTO WEEK 18 AND FEEL LIKE I HAVE THE BETTER OF IT ALREADY.
    BRING IT ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

    Always find early mornings best as its harder to get out of bed so makes the head strong and your usually running on empty so good for getting the body to burn fat.:)

    I literally did the exact opposite this morning. Went for a slightly later run so I could have an extra hour in bed and get my breakfast in beforehand :)

    FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 6 WEEKS I GOT TO TRAIN HOW I WANT TO.
    STARTED OF THE WEEK UNDER PRESSURE BUT EVERY DAY I FELT STRONGER AND NOW IM IN A GREAT PLACE.
    LEGS FEEL SO STRONG AND MOST IMPORTANT MY HEAD IS THE SAME.
    ONLY THING THAT TOOK A BATTERING IS MY TOES AND BOWELS.
    LETS JUST SAY I PICKED MORE GRASS FROM THE FIELDS THAN A 600LB HEFFER COW AND MY FEET LOOK LIKE A CAVE MAN NOW.
    4 DAYS WAS WET AND WINDY CONDITIONS BUT KEPT SAYING THIS WAS MENT TO PLAY OUT LIKE THIS.
    TRIED TO KEEP THE PACE ALL WEEK TO SUB 8 MIN PACE AND HIT EVERY TIME.
    THURSDAY RUN I RAN WITH THE PACE KNOCKED OF AND RAN IT ON FEEL AND ALMOST NAILED IT.
    THE MOST IMPORTANT RUN I DID THIS WEEK WAS THURSDAY 40 MILER SO DONE IT WITH 3 DAYS OF DOUBLE SESSIONS BEFORE TO MIMIC TIRED LEGS AND MIND.
    AFTER 35 MILES INTO THE RUN I WAS BET AND WENT TO TAKE A RIGHT TURN HOME AND THAT WOULD OF GIVING ME 36.
    THAT WOULD OF NEVER CUT IT SO IM NOT SURE HOW I MANAGED TO TURN LEFT BUT I DUG IN ALOT.
    ONLY 3 MILES LATER I WAS CRYING AND LAUGHING WITH PURE EMOTION ALONG THE PROM AS I NOW DONE WHAT I SET OUT TO RUN 4 DAYS EARLIER.
    IVE HAD THAT SAME MAGIC EMOTIONS A FEW TIMES IN THE LATER STAGES OF ULTRAS BUT NEVER WHILE TRAINING BUT JUST SHOWS THE EFFORT I WAS PUTTING IN OVER THE WEEK.
    NICE DAY OF TODAY BUT BACK AT IT TOMMOROW.

    You are in ridiculous shape, dont know how you are recovering from all these miles. Where do you find the time!?!?!?

    One month to go, whats the plan for the taper?
    I ran every spare minute I had all week haha,and I mean that.
    By the end it felt strange to be walking :)
    My dad told me only recently that when he used to play football in his younger days they ran a test on him and they coulnt believe how fast he was recoving in the tests.
    So I suppose it in my DNA a bit but also the millage I run.
    Plan is not sure how long to taper 2 weeks maybe but I suppose after 183 mile week its a taper from here on in:D
    Only one more long run to do and that the Vartry 50 miler on Saturday and I should have covered everything.
    will just keep running 2 or 3 26 milers a week for another 2 or 3 weeks and that will be it.

    Any suggestings from anyone how long of a taper?
    Not sure as I tend to put weight on easy so 3 weeks im not sure about but also want to be fresh
