Oh, protect that Civil Servant from criticism at all costs.

Joe finally cottons on to the fact the bank bailout is costing lives.

Quick! someone haul him back up to Cloud Nine.

yeah, but equally i wouldn't like people who smoke 60 a day for 30 years to expect the taxpayer to fork out for specialist lung Cancer medication that costs 80,000 euro. What if the medication only prolongs life, is it worth the state paying for it then?

Sums up this country perfectly that the HSE cannot fund this drug but RTE pay Joe enough to keep 5/6 patients on it for a year. Scandalous really.
    Who pays RTE?

Back when I was telling Fianna Failure fans that the disastrous mismanagement of the economy would kill people they called me 'hysterical'.

Primarily the government through the licence fees and grants, but also some contribution from advertisers.

Well if it was my life I'd hope they'd find it worth it. Also that guy has 2 youngs kids I'm sure they'd want more time with their dad if possible.
I'm with Harry Bosch, everyone counts or no one counts. ;)

Problem with that is that finding the money for this guy might mean another guy dies, or 5 people don't get a hip replacement, or 2 teens don't get a transplant. That's where the economics comes in - it's not about penny pinching, it's about trying to do the most good with the resources you have.

Wonder will he revisit the Garda 'surfing' scandal now that it has come to light that the pic was posed in a stationary car 2 years ago by members of a womens minor football team.

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/carsurfing-gardai-photo-was-posed-by-gaa-team-3090781.html

Probably not as someone will still ring in to complain how it was a disgrace for a garda resource to be used like that.

    Most likely about Louis LeBrocquy.
