Great - increase the price of drink. More nanny state bullsh1t. How on earth is it democratic to screw over the majority of folks based on the actions of the few.

Promoting personal responsibility by nailing those who abuse it with the costs of cleaning up after them is the way to go.

Not alone that, but guess where people will head for the cheap booze once we tax the bejaysus out of it?.

up to the friggin' North, where our first caller was from! Joe going 'round in circles again.

'The cost of VAT is exponential'

Joe just goes for a long word every now and then, regardless of its meaning. His Language skills are dreadful.

    Yes.

VAT is not Exponential - its 23% on €1 of alcohol and its 23% on €100 of alcohol thats not exponential Joe!

    i see only one solution.

Having a small penis ? That'll just make the drunken young men more angry, and the young drunken ladies more frustrated and will take that frustration out in drunken fights.

    It's always somebody else's fault.

Teach your kids some personal responsibility and maybe future generations will have a better attitude to alcohol in this country.

I'm sorry but that young lad died of stupidity.

Isn't the publican supposed to stop serving people when they're shítfaced? Funny that the pub lobby are saying below cost selling in supermarkets is bad because it's a danger for peoples health.

I cannot stand these Mammies that ring in about their "precious darlings". They are adults for God sake they need to learn some responsibility instead of running home to Mammy and getting on to Joe!!!!! Ya of course she was drinking water . . .

    Blame the government missus.

They tie us into the chairs, lock the pub doors and force the drink down our throats against our will

Thankfully the government seems to understand that putting up the cost of alcohol takes food out of the mouths of children.

    Heres a question?

These polls are infrequent enough but where does the profit go?

For example, the late late show run a competition each week. Say for instance the prize is €20,000 with an entry fee of €1 per text, if they get 30000 texts where does the €10,000 go?
