    Get to the point, woman

Admittedly Liberty Hall is crumbling, but I fail to see the need to splurge on a brand new building when there are lots of empty office spaces elsewhere, why do they need to be where they are anyway? (Yes, I am agreeing with the caller).

Woosh! Swift subject change there, now this post is no longer relevant.

I don't think the late late show carries cash prizes, generally such prizes are attached to a sponsor. However I have always felt that such competitions shouldn't be premium numbers as the prize is not given by RTÉ but rather by the sponsor.

The premium rate service provider gets a cut as do the broadcasters and the Telephone companies.

The Government laps up 18.7c of each €1 spent (pre-vat cost = 81.31c + 23% VAT = €1). On a side rant - if you donate €2 to a charity via one of those special text numbers, the government gets 37.4c, you're better off contributing directly.

So you paid for something and got it cheaper in a different economy rather than waiting to get it done here for free?

Well done, why do we need to hear about it? What's your point?

Dont they give holidays with spending money for example?

Although they are attached to a sponsor there is a charge involved and the money must be going somewhere

Yes but the Holiday and the Money come from the sponsor, not RTÉ. On the other hand Mooney's Money and The Daily Show is a phone in prize based on the price of a call. How many people call in?

This is the same for all broadcasters. I did put it to the regulator that they should not allow premium rate phone numbers for competitions involving sponsorship/product placement.

If a broadcaster is running a legitimate premium phone in quiz such as Mooney's Money I see no problems, other then the fact that it doesn't make for good radio.

How did this topic come up?
