Buying the correct RAM

I just bought a Thinkpad E520 and deliberately only got 2gb of RAM as it was 75 euro for an extra 4gb. I have done some research but maybe someone can clarify some doubts I have.

Firstly, can I put in a 4gb stick to make 6gb or is there any issues with this? Would buying another 2gb be a better idea? My budget doesn't stretch to buying 2x4gb. I read somewhere that 64bit systems need 2 sticks of the same size to run properly but that said, you can buy systems with 6gb everywhere...

Secondly, assuming a 4gb is the way to go, when I search for compatible Ram on crucial.com I get the following options, please help:

    4GB
    DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 512Meg x 64 • • Part #: CT2134100

    4GB
    DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.35V • 512Meg x 64 • • Part #: CT2158741

    4GB
    DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.5V • • Part #: CT2134122

    4GB
    DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • • Part #: CT2293896

And this is what's in the laptop out of the box:
(from the Lenovo website: "The use of 1066 MHz SO DIMM memory is recommended for this system.")
why are they recommending 1066Mhz when the system seems to have 1333Mhz?

    any advice really appreciated.
