Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ducati for sale

....nope not my own Ducati 996,but the company Ducati is up for sale.

Ducati needs to raise 1 billion euro,so the company is being put up for sale and it looks like theres alot of interest from the Americans (Harley Davidson is in line )for the rights to the iconic Italian brand name.Hard to see if HD would buy Ducati though, seen as it recently ditched the Buell and MV Agusta brand names.

But some car manufacturers are also interested in buying Ducati.

These would be namely VW and BMW.

It wouldnt be so surprising if it was VW that got Ducati,as VW have expressed an interest in getting into the bike market (like BMW have done) and VW have alot to do with Italian brand names and car makes, these days.

Fiat / Alfa would be a great candidate.

Not a hope in hell of that happening.

BMW actually made bikes before they ever made cars.

I'd vote for VW out of those options. It'd be nice to get some money behind Ducati, and keep some competition in the market. That said though, VW also own 20% of Suzuki.

As an aside; I don't think I'd like to own a bike with the blue "VW" stamped on it!

Mercedes would be a nice one, wasn't there already a link between AMG and Ducatti?

    Aye, for MotoGP sponsorship.
There was an AMG tuned Diavel too, wasn't there?

Anywho; Mercedes has apparently denied any interest at all...
