garmin 1310 losing car?

hi guys,I have a garmin nuvi 1310 which is just over a year old now,when in the 2d map view the car icon drives off the map,its ok in the 3d map but i would imagine that the car icon/symbol should remain in the centre of the map at all times,im just wondering is this normal for the 1310,i find it very annoying as when on a…

unit was in the map mode and not the 2d mode,
