Piercestown is a great price at 10/1 after winning all his rounds so far and could lead handy with a bit of trouble behind - 10/1 is good. But if Mildean gets any kind of run behind him, there's no contest.

THE Milldean Panther unbeaten fairytale may have come to an end last week but Ireland’s fastest canine is still very much the dog to beat in tonight’s €30,000 SIS Live Gold Cup final. And he can bounce back in tonight’s decider too. Beaten into third place behind Broadstrand Lad seven days ago, many felt that Milldean Panther put up one of the best ever performances of his 13-race career and he is much more favoured by the trap draw this time around.

Starting from trap 3 at 9.20pm tonight, the ‘Panther’ is boxed inside his main market rival Broadstrand Lad, who is unconveniently housed in trap 6, and there’s every chance that Milldean Panther will get the run of the race tonight.

His previous sectionals prove that ‘Milldean’ is capable of leading Airforce Roger and Mines A Pint to the opening bend and should he do that, then there’s no reason why he can’t take tonight’s prize. Broadstrand Lad is the only unbeaten greyhound in the competition thus far but it’s extremely hard to see how he is going to avoid trouble tonight and that should rule out him. Airforce Roger is most favoured by the draw and while he has been disappointing over the last couple of weeks, there’s every chance that he could follow home ‘Milldean’ here.

The consolation final to the SIS Live Gold Cup offers Noirs Buachaill an excellent chance to resume winning ways and while not blessed with great early pace, he can hold off the threat of Uncle Eoin to win the consolation prize. Last week’s Nap Oneca Cool did the business seven days ago and there’s no reason why Ian Reilly’s smart canine can’t land the SIS Top Dog A1 550 final at 9.35pm. Priceless Spark was out of luck a couple of weeks ago but Paul Hennessy’s flying female looks the one to beat in the SIS Open 525 while Pablo Supreme, Swift Marathon and Parkfield Harvey should all be followed on the latter end of the card.

Give Mildean a week off and he would have passed Sand. He's the better dog, could do with a small bit of early. My 10/1 prediction came up trumps. Mildean is a bit young for the 550 runs week in week out, I'm sure that will stand to him and along with couple more he should be in top form for that Distance in September.
