Sydney to Cairns Tour?

    Flying out to sydney mid-april for 4 weeks and planning to travel up to cairns over the space of about 3 weeks then flying back down to sydney for a few days before heading home. Have never been to australia so was thinking that an organised tour might be a good option. Just wondering if anyone can give some advice or tips for places to see. Right now I'm thinking of booking the following tour:

    Day 1

    Head to Sydney Central Station and check in with your Greyhound driver at 6:30am for a 7am departure. Travel up th ecoast spotting glinmpses of our amazing coast line to our best kept secret location Spot X. Stay at Spot X Surf camp.



    Day 2

    Free day today to explore the camp and the region. We have a river out the back you can Kyak up to the rope swing and have a crazy time. Take one of Mojo Surfs beginner lessons on the beach with no one around. Don't feel like a tourist learning to surf, do it on a deserted beach.
    Famous beach party tonight with beers tunes and awesome summer times.



    Day 3

    Depart Spot X at 4:30pm and travel to Byron. Arrive to Byron Bay in the early evening. Stay at Nomads Byron.



    Day 4

    Off to Nimbin today with Grasshoppers' Nimbin day tour. Explore the town famous for alternative life style, our own little Amsterdam... great cafes.. colourful buildings and old school hippies chilling on the streets. Head back to Byron Bay for the night



    Day 5

    Free day to explore the furthest eastern point of our main land. Check out the Light house, the beautiful surf beaches or immerse yourself in the culture Byron has to offer.



    Day 6

    Depart Byron Bay at 6:45am (7:45am in summer) & cross the border into Sunny Queensland as the locals like to call it. Travel through Surfers Paradise & Brisbane before making our way past the Glass House mountains to Rainbow beach.



    Day 7

    A great day of action in Rainbow Beach.

    Depending on the tide times you'll head to your surf lesson for 2 hours for fun in the sun.

    At 3:30pm you will attend your fraser pre-tour briefing for all the safety aspects of Fraser & to meet your travel buddies for the next 3 days.

    Stay in Rainbow Beach



    Days 8 - 10

    Fraser Island!! Depart famous self drive safari (now tag-along) 8 people per 4x4, 3 to 4 vehicles per trip makes for the ultimate road trip. Sun, sand and surf... camping right next to the ocean for two nights... perfect....

    Return to Rainbow Beach



    Day 11

    Early start to get some fresh air on our wild dolphin cruise. Get in to the shallow water and watch the dolphins swin around you, you may wish to hand feed the wild dolphins for $5.

    Depart Rainbow beach at 12:30pm and travel up the coast through Hervey Bay & Bundaberg to 1770 arriving in th early. This is the best place to chill with small village like atmosphere & great people. You should do the famous scooteroo tour which is optional.



    Day 12

    Free time to head to the beach or do some optional tours.

    Depart 1770 at 9:10pm & head toward the Whitsunday Islands. Travel through the night and save on accommodation.



    Day 13 - 15

    Arrive in Airlie Beach at 9am after your overnight bus ride. You need to go to the sailing office and check in for your sailing trip. Then drop your luggage at Peterpans and pick up some alcohol for your trip

    Time for the whitsundays. Depart at 2pm on your Maxi Racing Yacht and get in your swim wear ready to cruise out into the ocean. 2 days & 2 nights of snorkling exploring and a bit of fun in the evenings. Return at 12pm on day 13 for an afternoon of free time in Airlie Beach. Stay the night in Airlie Beach at Nomads.



    Day 16

    Free day to nurse that hang over after partyying with your boat crew. You will depart Airlie Beach at 8:00pm and travel overnight to cairns



    Day 17

    You will arrive to Cairns at approx 6:30am. You have this day free to explore the sights of Cairns. You can even organise to join a tour this day to the Rainforest, explore th escenic rail and Kuranda or check out the Aj Hackett Bunjy sight in the rainforest. Spend the night in Nomads Esplanade Cairns.



    Day 18

    Great Barrier Reef. Travel with Ocean Feedom to the reef for a day you'll probably never forget. Never in your life have you experienced the colours and array of coral matched with an abundance of marine life this could be the best day of your trip. Save the best 'til last hey! Return at approx 5pm and spend the night in Cairns.



    Day 19

    Check out of your hostel at 10am and that completes your 19 day trip. Connect with flights or busses to your next destination or extend your stay in cairns and see what else far north queensland has to offer.

    What do you think? Would I better off organising something myself? Really want to make the most of this trip so any information would be appreciated.
