Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would appreciate both Criticism or comment on some images from India. I was hoping to capture the atmosphere and mood of some of the sights that I came across and the first 5 represent that. Secondly are some nature shots that come from a national park in India where the animals are roaming freely and I include these for more general interest, i.e. the photos are generally of the animals rather than the mood of the first 5. The last images (9a & 9b) are an attempt to see if people prefer HDR or normal shot of a famous monument.

    tremendous stuff.

not particularly as a set but as individual elements I think there is lots in there to be very pleased with.

as an image #1 is special. not technically so as there is cr*p noise and bad exposure, but its a classic example of where technicalities don't matter a damn (newbies take note as you strive to produce the perfect photograph). The subject matter outweighs any technical deficiencies that are present. Sometime you've gotta point and shoot with whatever is in your hands with whatever settings are on it, and with whatever limitations are on it. Its a moment and you captured it brilliantly. Also, conceptually of note (I think), it may be that a wider scene would have destroyed what those that were not there actually get from the image - but yes, its darn fine as it is.

I like the architecture in #3, #8, and #9b. Ok, for me architecture can be very hit and miss but not having experienced such parts of the world, I find these interesting and captivating to certain degree.

I'm not really gone on the animal shots, but i think its really difficult to get really good animal shots. Check out sineadw's shot of maggie over on pixie. The emotion that is prevalent makes the image. If you don't get emotion (imho) you end up with holiday snaps. This isn't a particularly bad thing (there is immense value in holiday snaps) but they mightn't win photo of the year. Generally, they are void of emotion. Not to oversell it but do look up maggie on sineadw's pix.ie stream. That is animal portraiture at its best (imho).

9a, the Taj is obviously iconic, so how can you do a different (unique) take. Hmnnnn.... some things aren't meant to have a different take on them. I don't think the focus on the foreground does anything particularly for the scene. It's the Taj so maybe a lonesome romantic sitting in front of it or a couple hand in hand, or whatever.... I just think the image which you've displayed is maybe a little easy. ie. you didn't have to wait for the moment. the moment happens 18 hours a day everyday. That may be just me. Others may think its unique and/or creative.

Overall a great set (but not as a set if you know what I mean).

that #1, you could go large and frame and hang it anywhere and most importantly, enjoy.

    Well done, a nice selection.

No 1 I immediately liked but think it could have been improved upon,
by losing half of the top of the frame and including her feet, the light
that is falling on her face makes the shot for me.

No 4 Would be the other shot that would go for, again the light is
great and they are just the sort of photographs that appeal to me.

Overall I LOVED them, you are so lucky to have been able to go!
The top one stikes me as overly dark/too much contrast, and number 2 looks a bit skew-wiff, could do with a perspective straighten job on it.

Nice set # 1, 4 and 8 are my favourites.
Would probably like #1 to be a little closer perhaps a little off the top.

Number 8 really grabbed me. great shot. The other shots are good but none really convey a clear mood to me.
