As Kat1170 sais, to thank a post, to show your support/approval/gratitude etc, you can press the thanks button on the lower right of the post

You need a minimum of 10 posts before you can thank a post.

There are some forums which do not allow the 'Thanks' button like this forum, Prison and a few others. If the button is not there, and you have over 10 posts, then you assume that the 'Thanks' function for that forum has been disabled.
