    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the "Southbound Holiday Cottages" are like in Dingle? Specifically this one?

I haven't been able to find any reviews anywhere. I'm going on a family holiday with 2 young kids.

    Thanks.

Pretty good as far as I know, they are located in town, on a hill which will give you a nice view down over Dingle and the bay. Walk into town is 5 minutes, even less. The estate is smart and quiet so you should be close enough for the craic but quiet enough to have a break too with the children.

Reasonably new, up the hill from main street, bit of a haul with buggies or even bags if you are walking.Friends stayed there last year and were impressed.

Here's a list of things that were wrong with the Dingle Lodge which we rented off SouthboundHolidayCottages.com. We stayed there in July 2012. We were 10 adults staying there with 4 children.
    1. There was a bad smell of urine off one of the beds which meant that one of the couples had to spend the entire week in the kids room. Southbound did replace the mattress but the couple couldn't stomach the room anymore. The quilt obviuosly had urine on it aswell. Where were the mattress protectors?
    2. The garden furniture was filthy with green moss. A simple powerhose would have sorted that out, so we had no outside furniture to sit on.
    3. We had planned on cooking a barbeque even for one night but it was fithly with food still on it from a previous guest.
    4. There were no light bulbs in the lamps outside in the so called landscaped!!! gardens so we couldn't stay outside at night even if we wanted to. Most of the bedside lamps were missing bulbs aswell.
    5. There were only 5 bowls in the presses for 10 people. That just isn't good enough.
    6. A stairs gate was advertised as we had 3 under 4 year olds with us, this was non-existent.
    7. The shelves in the fridge were not the right size and one of them collapsed one night when the fridge was opened, that could have been serious if a child had opened the door of the fridge.
    8. There were faulty locks on all the doors which meant that you could lock the doors but could not open them. One of the guys was stuck in an ensuite toilet for over an hour and had to wait for a duplicate key to be got from a maintenance guy. If a child was locked in the bathroom it would have been much worse.
    9. Southbound advertosed a Plasma TV for the house but it was a big CRT, old fashioned TV.
    10. The floors were all filthy when we got there, we found monkey nut shells under the couches, obviously from a previous guest.
    11. One of the bedside lamps had a plug that the back broken on, very dangerous!
    12. There was no corkscrew in the house, a basic requirement in this day and age.
    13. We were given one front door key for 10 adults

The other problem with this property was that the people who were running it didn't seem to care and we had to contact them several times. We spoke to a woman on the phone but never saw her and she started blaming other things. All we wanted was the place cleaned properly and the urine bed removed.
