Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nightclub marketing gone too far?

Have to say I and I think most guys also, going by online forums at the time at least, were wholly against the banning of the Hunky Dory adverts in response to complaints from the NWCI and other feminist groups.

To me, those ads were pretty harmless and were very much done tongue in cheek but should women, of any standing, have an issue with the current Alchemy marketing campaign, I think I would support them, as I feel it is a step too far.

My daughters are a bit off club going age, but if advertising like this is what's to come for them, then we're packing up and moving to Lambay Island.

Alchemy have always advertised like that.
Saw one there that showed a pair of woman's legs with her knickers around her ankles. Not very appropriate, I'll see if I can find it, was on facebook.

Suits and sluts... kinda like pimps and hoes. Who cares, if people want to be perceived to e be a slut then let them at it.

And lets face it, it's not the worst to come out of Alchemy now is it... Unless you missed all the finger banging pics.

If you did, I have them saved here somewhere

Something tells me that there will be more suits than sluts at a night like that

Yeah ... focus more on the parenting and teaching kids that just cause you want to dress sexy doesn't mean they actually have to be sluts. F*ckin ell, everyone is offended by everything these days in the 'won't someone think of the children' frame of mind. Be a proper parent to your kid and teach them how to make good decisions and no marketing campaign like this will ever lead them astray.

It's not a patch on the new "48" mobile phone adverts from o2.

Not very appropriate for a school maybe, but for a night club it sounds pretty appropriate.

    Alchemy

Where Ireland's elite go to socialise and discuss the burning Irish topics of the day like economics and business strategies............as in how much beer will I have to buy for yer wan before she lets me shtick a few fingers up her box. :pac:

You really should know what kind of club you're expecting to walk into when you see advertisements like this for it.

Just wondering has Jodie Marsh received any funds for using her image for the club? Wouldn't there need to be some legal BS or her approving stuff like this?

I initially thought this was about that 48 ad. It made my monocle pop out so it did. I gasped so fuggin hard.

(EDIT: That's the one TheZohan..............SHOCKIN' JOE!!!!!!).

  • Registered Users Posts: 814 ✭✭✭Tesco Massacre

Is that Jodie Marsh? If so, I'm going to Alchemy!

I could really go for an std right about now.

Alchemy is a shithole, and only idiots would be taken in by its brand of advertising.

But hey, people are talking about it so it's win/win as far as they're concerned.

I sow those ****y adds on telly and I still can't put my finger on this.. Wtf are they advertising? Rent-a-slut?! Some dating number?! Night club? I am 25, and honestly I can't understand wtf they advertising in there. Can anyone explain me?!

It's what happens when a corporate entity tries to tap into the "youth" mentality and just make the person in the ad sound like a bit of a spastic.

    Yup.

The advert states "I will wake up on your couch and have no idea who you are, and if you don't like it you can fuck yourself".

Charming behaviour to promote, I wonder what the Rape Crisis Centre would agree with their philosophy.

Bejesus lads... I am honestly wasn't pulling your leg on that one. I genuine did not know wtf that adds was about! Now it is even more shocking for me.

So am I getting old and dont understand young people anymore, or is it just the most idiotic and unrespectfull to both genders marketing move?

The 48 ads? The TV ads are fkn stupid too.

"we are 48, the new phone network only for those aged 18 to 22.
why? well, they're the best 48 months of your life. serious can wait. go conquer."

No I missed them, it's true.

Have moved the family to Dublin only in the latter half of last year, so all new to me and my protective gene seems to be on overdrive.

I best get used to it.

    "Finger banging" you say? Wowzers.

I guess it just all seems more suitable to a Lap Dancing flyer that would be handed to an adult, rather than something that gets sent to teens via Facebook. Sign of the times I suppose. I am indeed old it would seem, not just getting there ;)

They ran a competition to see who could get the dirtiest photo and some of the submissions were pretty good bad. There was one chick in a pink dress, face visible and all and I think 3 different guys were caught with their hand up her skirt. Another girl was get her ass fingered and I'm pretty sure there was a bj pic there too.

It's also the dumbest ****ing demographic to chase in telecoms. 18-22 year olds spend the least amount of money on their mobiles of any demo.

It's amazing what you learn when you have worked for 2 telecoms companies.

Imagine if places had to advertise honestly?

I reckon "Sexually Insecure and Chicks with Daddy Issues" would pack out the club.

True, except they don't care what they spend in those 4 years. What they want is O2 to be the first port of call when they make the move to billpay, and actually do start spending money

It's funny isn't it that this stuff has been going on for decades in clubs and discos but it's only in the age of digital cameras and widespread internet access that it becomes problematic :D
