Thinking of getting this board http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68V_PRO/, an i5, crucial M4 SSD, 1TB SATA3 drive and a basic DVDRW drive, Hauppauge PVR-150 and various USB bits and bobs to be plugged in.

What wattage should I be looking for with that and any recommendations appreciated? Any GFX investment would be far enough away that upgrading the PSU at the time wouldn't be a problem.

Well if it was just that spec, you'd be fine with a 350W unit. If you're looking at a mid-range graphics card (up to about a 6870), then 450W, and if you're going to be adding a high-end graphics card at any point (anything up to a 7970), you'd want 550W.

By i5, I hope you mean the 2500K.

It really depends on where you are buying. PSUs are not something that are homogeneous across the online stores. Don't buy based solely on wattage anyway. Power draw on that system would be low enough... probably only 200W at peak. Is it something that's likely to be on for very long periods of time? Also, budget?

Likely to be running anywhere between 6 and 12 hours daily, only heavy processing work would be en/transcoding video. Budget is pretty much whatever a good quality, quiet PSU that isn't overkill in terms of power costs.

Mistake in the link above, it's the GEN3 I'm looking at http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z68V_PROGEN3/ Unless that makes a difference, I think I'll go with the Antec Basiq 350W for the moment http://www2.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=49522&agid=1626

The super flower amazon 450w are good and cost just 3euro more with more room for upgrades. There the usual one people around here recommend. The 550w is only 13 quid more.
