Thurles seems to be getting a bad name for incidents like this as this one has brought back up the story of a similar instance in 1999 where a young man was also left in a coma in a similar case.

The young offender in this case is from Templemore, this is obviously having a bad effect on the reputation of Thurles and Templemore towns.

This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent young man who was waiting for his lift home after enjoying a night out.

How can these sort of instances be stopped when the offender was released and will probably receive a slap on the wrist.

Whats to say he or similar offenders won't do something similar to other innocent people enjoying a night out this weekend!!!!

Would it put you off going out in Templemore or Thurles??

These incidents are happening all too frequently in many towns/cities.

Some people just don't have any respect for their fellow citizens and are prepared to assault people at will it would appear.

My own view is that if you take a life, you forfeit your own and you do long hard time for the crime committed.

I'm told that this incident in particular has a Templemore connection.

My condolences to the bereaved family.

This thug should have been off the streets years ago.
We have a peculiar view on human rights here though.
