Thanks BaconZombie, wouldn't have wanted to have not known that ;)

Well, that's a very old manny cast :D

Well I suppose the thread does indicate that here be spoilers, so I guess spoiler text shouldn't be entirely necessary.

Meh otherwise though; guest stars shouldn't really get big billing in a TV series anyway, unless it someone really famous.

As an aside, set photos of season 7 filming have already surfaced!

FYP.. and I think he's quite decent in it. And "was"? He's only been in 2 episodes yet!

Not all too exciting guest stars tbh!

Slightly more exciting cast news for sci-fi geeks like me: Ben Browder (of Farscape / Stargate SG1 fame) will guest star, in a Western-set episode, currently being filmed in Spain:

Am now very excited. Hope they sneak in some nods to Farscape

    I've seen neither (I know, I'm a very naughty sci-fi fan).

I am a litte bit thrilled that they're filming in Almeria though.

Ah pick up Farscape, it's great. Imaginative, offbeat, funny, epic and has great creature effects. Takes a while to warm up but one of those shows where the characters carry the show, including Mr. Browder himself :)

Yep, it's on the list. Sure, I only started Galactica late last year, ended up finishing it three weeks later of course, but that's a different story.

    +1

Rewatching it at the moment (half way through Season 2). There's a lot that's cheesy and hammy but overall, I'd forgotten just how good it was even in the season 1 episodes when it was getting warmed up.

Can we expect to see Capt. Jack at all in S7

I would be doubtful for S7, there has been nothing so far anyway (unless I have missed something).

Maybe for the Anniversary Specials though.

There is a rumour that the new companion will be announced tomorrow...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,047 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    Yep, looking likely alright..
Daily Mirror TV Editor, Mark Jefferies: "BBC source has confirmed to me they will unveil new Doctor Who assistant tomorrow. She is “pretty” but “not household name”'.

Lots of rumours of Sophia Myles (remember her from 'The Girl In The Fireplace' below?) as she was spotted on set recently, although denied it.

She would be a household name in the UK though.

    We'll see tomorrow.

Although it'd be messing with my favourite episode's position in the timeline/chronology of the series, I think it'd be fascinating to see the doctor with a long-term companion from the 1700's...

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

Hmm wonder if they'll continue the tradition of hiring from within: that is to say, the new companion will be actor who has already appeared in the show, albeit in a different role. Happened with Martha & Amy, and sort-of happened with Donna...

I actually thought in season 5/6 there have been a few characters who came across as real 'companion' material, until they got killed off that is haha. I'm thinking of the likes of the girl soldier from Good Man Goes to War, or the nurse from The God Complex...

Extremely unlikely and I'm probably alone in this.. but Corden?

I quite liked Corden as the Companion but his wife would have to come a long and that's very Rory and Amy.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

I read some speculation last night that it could be Aisling Loftus who was in the Borrowers at Christmas. I think she'd be fantastic.

James Cordon I knew nothing of before his first appearance, so I never got the annoyance from some people: I"d have no problem with him appearing again, but sure he has Stormaggedon to look after so it's unlikely! :D

Clearly the companions should be the Victorian Silurian assassin and her human lover / maid. Only logical choice really.

I would love that as a spin off.

I never really liked Corden before but I loved him in DW.

    Confirmed on the BBC:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17456505

She looks very English, if that makes any sense haha. Look forward to hearing what her story is, hope it's something a little more unique this time

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,108 ✭✭✭Lirange

Christina Ricci ... with knockers? :pac:

She's supposed to be a decent actress. We'll see.

    There's been speculation that
When the Dr meets her she'll be a bit of a "villain"

I'm embarassed that I also know her emmerdale- she was annoyingly always cheerful character- a bit like Rose Tyler. thought they would have gone for someone a bit older this time.

Any time I saw her in Emmerdale she was far from cheerful. She's a decent actor from what I've seen.

I'm just looking forward to finding out who the character is.

For what it's worth, they did release an official photo of Coleman as the new companion; though I'm presuming they just had her stand infront of the TARDIS, wearing whatever she had on that day... lovely jumper!

She's going to fit right in. Mad jumpers seem to be very much favoured by the cast. :) I seem to recall a pheasant jumper Arthur wore in an official photo once.

Most likely. Remember Matt Smith's first publicity pic and everyone wondered if that was how the 11th Doctor would dress http://www.sabotagetimes.com/wp-content/uploads/matt-smith-dr-who.jpg

It seems a familiar face from the old-series may also be returning - spoilery pic in the link:

Of course given the day it was posted, it might be an April Fools, but it looks genuine enough...

Well as with all these things, as soon as filming starts details leak out, specifically in this case about Jenna Coleman & the character she plays. It's not even as if you have to try hard to find spoilers these days (especially when handsome posters pass on the links too!)

I shant post any details here, but the link has set pics and an overheard testimony of who / what the new companion might be:

The name was Lis Sladen's middle name. I dig Jenna's red schoolbag.

I love that outfit. I hope it's permanent.

Dougray Scott was on set in costume that day too. I saw a pic but can't look for it at the moment as I'm on my phone.

Not casting, but news. Episode 1 has been named - "Asylum of the Daleks".
We confirmed back in March that the Daleks would be returning to menace the universe and even posted a few sneaky photos smuggled from set! Since then, Steven Moffat (Doctor Who’s lead writer and Executive Producer) has confirmed that the adventure will feature every kind of Dalek ever faced by the Time Lord – including the legendary Special Weapons Dalek!

The title of the new story has already increased the excitement building around it. Could the ‘asylum’ be a place or is it some sort of protection? Or does the word take on a new and sinister meaning in this adventure? It’s too early to say but we’re having fun speculating! In the meantime, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out the answer to the crucial question: What is the Asylum of the Daleks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 427 ✭✭Keogg

I thought they were done with using the Daleks for a while no? Not sure how good another dalek based episode will be really, the last one wasn't the best...

Liam Cunningham has been confirmed as guest appearance. It will be an historical episode written by Mark Gatiss. I enjoy him in Game of Thrones, should translate well to Dr. Who. Looking forward to the next series, just want it to start.

Liam is my cousin, delighted to see him in it :D

He actually auditioned for the role of the 8th doctor in the TV movie
