Is it scary? Might have a look if it is

The first couple of episodes had its moments, after that it's more freaky now than scary.

Watched a horror film on US Netflix yesterday that I quite enjoyed. 'The Taking Of Deborah Logan'

It's a found footage film but the premise is quite interesting, Deborah is an elderly woman in the early stages of Alzheimer's, and is executed quite well. There is some good acting in it and it definitely held my interest for the running time.

I'll not say too much about but check it out if you're looking for a good Halloween flick

Yeah, it was quite good. There was actually a bit of a story to it as well. The old women was creepy as hell, think it went on a little bit too long, but it was quite good considering it was probably made for next to nothing.

    Lawless!! Great watch

    Really enjoyed that myself.

What put me off watching it sooner was the IMDB ratings.

I learned long ago to take no notice of these as I find them utterly disconnected to what I think of a film so don't know why I sat on the fence with Lawless because of them.

Someone mentioned Fun Size earlier, what region, it's not on the Irish one.

So it is, I was checking using my daughters profile which has age limitations on it so it didn't appear, it's 12a rated.

Currently working my way through the first season. It's interesting to say the least! I've heard great things about Coven.
Turns into Melrose Place. Very weak compared to the previous seasons.

I haven't bothered with the new one.

Bates Motel is on Irish Netflix, I flew through the first season and I am quite the fussy viewer - much better than I expected it to be. Not really for horror fans, more a kind of psychological thriller or mystery with dollops of black humour thrown in.

I watched In Fear on Canadian Netflix last night. It's sort of a horror, without supernatural elements.

About a couple from the UK who, as a first serious date together, come to Ireland to a music festival. As a surprise the dude has them booked into the 'Kilairney Hotel' for the first night. The story revolves around them driving down country roads in sh1t weather trying to find the hotel all the while being chased by sinister locals.

It's cheap as chips, not all that great and short on any real atmosphere.

In the middle of the movie they pick up some dude with a Dublin 4 accent who is apparently a local of the area. Not exactly a straw hat wearing yokel.

It's not entirely terrible, but still fairly rubbish, worth a watch if you like watching two panicky people driving around boreens in the butthole of Ireland in the middle of winter.

Read the book last week and it's different to the film, amazing also.

Yet again I buy a film on Blu-Ray and a few days later it pops up on Netflix. Think that this is at least the twentieth time it's happened over the past few months and the fourth time this week, picked up the Infernal Affairs box set and all three are being added to netflix on Saturday.

Just watched 'Sins Of My Father' and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of crime documentaries. It's the story of Pablo Escobar's son, Sebastian, recalling life around his auld fella and the crimes commited by him. It gives insight into the assassinations of two politicians who opposed Escobar's Robin Hood image and accused him of his crimes and the impact it had on the sons of the two politicians. Well worth a watch in you're in the humour of a good doc.

If you want feel even lower, the French film Martyrs will bring you down another few notches. It made me feel thoroughly miserable. Not on Netflix mind...

Cabin in the Woods is decent if you haven't seen that and it's on some of the Netflix regions, can't remember which. It's a house of horrors type deal.

Sinister is alright. Ethan Hawke moves into a house with his family where the previous were murdered and badness happens.

I was late to the party and only watched Paranormal Activity recently. Really pleasantly surprised with it. Think it's on Brazil Netflix.

I thought there was going to be a heavily edited version for the US market. I seem to remember a lot of anger towards Weinstein because of it.
