Watched "Hot Girls Wanted" - a documentary on the amateur porn industry. It focuses on one house of girls and their "agent." I found it a little hard to watch at times, it made me a bit uncomfortable. An interesting doc though!
Crazy how many responses the agent got so quickly to the Craig's List advert.

Blue is the Warmest Colour on Irish Netflix. A great French film about two ladies who fall in love. No holds barred, it leaves little to the imagination. ;)

I've been watching Parenthood on US. TV show basically just about an extended family. Grandparents, 4 grown up kids and their own young kids. One of the guys from Friday Night Lights is involved as is Ron Howard. The cast is pretty great, even Dax Shepherd is surprisingly likable, I only knew him from Punked so I had no idea he could act.

It's nice to watch a show that's just about people every once in a while, no high concept premise, no zombies or seriel killers or what have you. It may not be for everyone and it's not as good as Friday Night Lights in spite the behind the scenes connections and a few of FNL's cast popping up from time to time, but it's a decent show.

Before the birth of our first child, someone warned me don't look at the 'sharp end'. The last few episodes are not for the faint-hearted!

Just wondering about any good films or tv shows on netflix.

I like gangster and crime movies and documentary's, especially British ones.

But any other ones off different genres are good too

    I see.

And how much does this free weekend cost?

Sense8 is about 8 people in different cities around the world who suddenly find themselves having a connection via their mind. I'm 8 episodes in and its gotten progressively better. It's a slow burner but turning out better than my first impressions.

I got through about 10 episodes. I can see what people mean by saying that it's a slow burner as it takes a few episodes to get a sense for what it's about. I didn't find it particularly gripping but a bit different. My interest has waned though.

Have you tried Peaky Blinders? Based on a gang in Birmingham in the aftermath of World War 1.

Stars Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) and Tom Hardy (Batman / Locke etc.)

    It's excellent

Gorged through all 9 seasons of the US Office. Can't believe I hadn't watched it until now. Although the quality of the show went from sublime to horrible (particularly season 8) I felt the last few episodes were a fitting end

recently rewatched season 1 (which only had 6 episodes and was before the show was definitely gonna be picked up). season 1 is only average but the last 2 episodes show the potential for the entire series. I did feel that once carrell left that things went downhill (spader was excellent but wasn't in it enough)

Just finished season 3 of The US Office myself.

Come closer. *whispers* I actually prefer it to the UK one. :pac:

It's far better than the UK one in my opinion. The UK one deserves huge credit for its originality though.

I'm near the end of season 8 myself and though the quality does dip when Michael leaves I don't think it's as drastic as others make out.

Yeah treat the first season like an extended pilot. It's kind of them saying "Okay we've done the remake, now let us do our own thing!".

Could you skip the first season?

Sure, there's not much in the way of character development then.

I wouldn't. I disagree with what e_e, there's quite a lot of establishment in there. And it's not bad either. Just not as good as it gets.

Quick question - is there a way to get English subtitles on a film if it's not in the options listed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,163 ✭✭✭Beefy78

The US Office is great but it is a very different show to the UK one. It becomes pretty much a traditional sitcom with an ensemble by season four. I understand why it is compared to the original show but it's an unfair comparison, IMO.

Watched this recently and it is a good film. Well worth the watch, top notch stuff.

Also watched Joe with Nicholas Cage in it, decent enough film as well if stuck for something
