Not sure if it's been there a while or I watched it on another region, but I saw Pain and Gain appear in my Netflix Ireland list. It's a pretty enjoyable crime/comedy caper based on a true story with Mark Wahlberg and the Rock.

^ Second season of the French one isn't too far away. Saw a teaser trailer for it the other day. September in France, I think. Should be on here before the end of the year, hopefully.

Ah man im really pissed at that, i thought it was a great show, i guess ill have to look at the original series now,btw would that be subtitled?

Yes, it's subtitled but really excellent. Apparently the American one is a shot for shot remake.

Just watched The Guest tonight. Thought it was very well acted and directed but also thought it was very much a missed opportunity.
Very good for the first hour or so but it just ended up being too over the top in the end.

    Birdman added to Netflix Canada

Canada seems to be best for getting latest releases.

I think it has the best catalogue of all the regions.

Two decent movies that are worth a watch.

    The Vanishing. 1993
A science teacher (Geoff Bridges) is planning to abduct a woman and is going through numerous scenarios in an effort to perfect his abduction. He then comes across an easy target at a petrol station, where he bumps into Diane (Sandra Bullock). Diane got separated from her boyfriend (kiefer Sutherland) which gave Jeff his opportunity.

The Cry of the Owl. 2009
This was a strange one and I was nearly going to give up on it, but it turned out to be very good. Its about a guy who is in the middle of a divorce and going through a spout of depression. He starts a new job in a small town were he meets a woman (Julia Stiles) in a very unorthodox manner.

Sounds good. I'll add the to my list!

Anyone watch 'suits'? My brother swears by it. I'm yet to give it a go as another series gets my attention before I get to suits

Suits is good, stop at the end of season three. I couldn't warm to the fourth season after the initial dynamic of the show was changed.

Personally I would say stop at the end of season 2 the quality really goes down and it starts becoming more soapy but 3 has a more conclusive finale if I remember correctly.

Yeah season 4 was poor. Season 5 is very good, mostly just about the main characters in the firm.

I would agree. It's good for a while but it quickly becomes very repetitive and boring.

I watched Top of the Lake recently and would recommend if you like detective cop dramas like The Killing with the slightest hint of dark humour. It's a 7-episode miniseries set in a small New Zealand town where a 12yr old pregnant girl goes missing and Elizabeth Moss plays a cop who specialises in dealing with child abuse cases struggles to find and help her as the local townsfolk have all but given up on her.

    Really strong stuff.

Suits is the best worst show out there. Ludicrous dialogue, over-acted, cringe-worthy bromance - it's basically gibberish yet for some reason I love watching it.

Someone here recently recommended 'the vanishing' starring kiefer Sutherland.

Was honestly s great movie. The story had me hooked from the get go. Only negative that the gorgeous Sandra Bullock isn't in it for long enough :P

I was sort of disappointed by it, some major cheese in it. Especially that final scene :o

    Jeff Bridges was outstanding though.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is on Netflix Canada. I thoroughly enjoyed it, lovely to look at, great soundtrack and nice feelgood film. Product placement is obvious at times, some perfectly fine for plot purposes, others not so much! It didn't spoil my enjoyment anyway.

You're right. The climax was a typical thriller but the lead up to the storyline and after kept me tense throughout.

He was fantastic. His caracter was so creepy!

The product placement is absolutely crazy in that film. It's like watching an hour and a half commercial in one respect.

Despite that I too found it an enjoyable watch and I'm not mad about Ben Stiller.

You should have a look at Switchback. It's from 1997 and it stars Denis Quaid, Jared leto and Danny Glover. I won't say much about it, but Quaid is a FBI agent that's in the hunt of a serial killer.

Like the Vanishing it also has some cheesy scenes but it's still well worth a watch.

Thats a great movie. a real 90's thriller.

Yeah leto and Glover were both brilliant in it.

I loved the interior of the car;)

Just added it to my list there. I may watch it tonight. I love these type of films!

Thats a great movie. a real 90's thriller.

The 90s had a lot of decent psychological thriller type films, some were star vehicles. Malice, Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Single White Female. There were some good noirish films like Last Seduction and Red Rock West.[some of these are on Netflix across various regions]] I watched Twisted and Secret Window recently, both early 2000s thrillers, and felt that they were really crap compared to some of them 90s thrillers.

Im just going off of memory here and someone can probably name a dozen studio 2000s thrillers that were very good and it might be my nostalgic bias but it seemed like the 90s produced some fairly watchable mainstream thrillers.

Check out Michael Keaton in 'pacific heights' if you're looking for another good one. Nicole Kidman and Sam Neil in 'dead calm' is excellent too.
