I've no problem paying 10 euro per month for Netflix, 120 a year, I spent that on a night out on Sunday. My only fear is that there was a price increase last year, now a price increase this year, where is it all going to end?

I just wish they'd start investing more in their film catalogue. If they took even 5-10% of the money they're investing in original shows and expensive deals with Disney and the like, they could have an absolutely incredible, rich selection of classic and world cinema. If anything, they've become notably worse in that respect.

I think that's being a bit selective, because imo Netflix have become worse in all respects, not just specialist interests. Some decent broad entertainment options should be the start here, but their mainstream selection is scattershot at best (eg, they have Iron Man 2 & 3, but not #1. Baffling), full of mediocre summer films that at best make you think 'oh yeah I remember that in the cinemas'.

10 euro is getting a bit much for what is, in effect, a single TV channel; a smattering of own-programming bolstered by a few choice imports (and not particularly current imports at that) with no real reasoning behind the 'scheduling'.

Tbh, of their own programmes, only Daredevil left me impressed and wanting more, the rest I could take or leave and wouldn't consider remotely 'essential' viewing (Sense8 confirmed that the Wachowskis have finally disappeared up their own collective rectums) and their Film & TV selection is just ... disappointing. I shouldn't have to perform some internet dark magic to get access to their better catalogues & get a parallel to a modest Xtra-Vision, and while like others I've been kept on the lower fee 'til 2016, once that goes up I think I'll bail.

So sad about the Office being removed from Netflix.

Huh? Both versions are still up for me.

You gave me a bit of a fright there because I'm all the way up to S8 on the US one. :pac:

Considering I used to pay 50/60 euro for a single boxed set €9.99 is still good value in my opinion, especially as I "travel" a lot

But how many of them boxsets are on Netflix? The Wire and Sopranos are very popular boxsets but they're HBO obviously and not on Netflix. No Seinfeld either. Fraser and Friends are on there but only on some regions.

Also, titles get removed from Netflix all of the time. I'm still waiting for the first three series of Spiral to get added back.

arcticmonkeys said further back that it'll be gone soon so I'd watch the rest of it quickly if I was you
The U.S Office is leaving the 4th of September. Pity, a show you could dip in and out of whenever probably a big loss to Netflix if it doesn't get renewed.

Netflix is such fantastic value, lucky me that I have my €6.99 subscription until February 2016 :D

Even it was double that I would still happily pay it.

I imagine they'll renew The Office? I'm actually on my second watch I love it so much! Things leave and come back. Hopefully they're just negotiating.

Meh, The Office declined in quality rapidly after season 4.

Ah, I get what you're saying, I took a look at Mubi after I posted.

Do I need to "emigrate" for Mubi?

Its available on many other regions but it would be a massive loss if its gone on the Irish version. Maybe they might just be negotiating.

    Nope - https://mubi.com/

Free trial, plus you can download for offline viewing apparently. Pretty sweet deal. I may well switch to it.

    Looks like it.

Edit. I was basing my assumption on the prices being displayed in dollars but I bow to the superior knowledge above.

Comming up at the end of the month you have Narcos.

Here's the trailer, it looks damn good, sort of a cross between 'Blow' and 'Clear and present danger'.

Every episode like OITNB or weekly like better call Saul?

I'll be looking forward to it

It will be all at once as it is a Netflix show.

Better Call Saul isn't a Netflix show just exclusive to them they just bought the rights to show it after it airs on US tv just like any other channel over here.

I'm sure you can get through the remaining episodes by then.

Creed Bratton is my favourite character out of the whole show and this is, by far, his funniest moment for me

Actually e_e - that might be a spoiler, because I can't remember if it happened in S8 or S9, but I think S8?

Hmm it'll be like 3 episode a day but I'll work away. ;)

Same. Haven't seen that clip yet so I'll get to it.

Yeah having a quick look, seems decent enough, plenty of selection (compared to netflix at least!) will give it a trial soon enough. Defo could see myself using it full time and possibly nowtv for my tv fix, while renewing my Netflix once every few months.

Actually is it just those 30 films you can see?

For some reason when I was using the search I thought I could watch the films that was coming up in my search?

Isn't this a recommendation thread? Anyway Spellbound is a cracking documentary about a bunch of nerds trying to win the national spelling bee in the good ole USA.

This mubi looks very interesting. I would sign up but I have a paranoia for bank details and online. Still, Netflix has very limiting options so this might force my hand. It's hard to get good cinema on the go

One new film is added a day, one is subtracted, so basically 30 different films every month, each one available for 30 days. For me the biggest draw is that they often get very hard to find and obscure films that you just wouldn't see otherwise.

What exactly is Mubi and why should I pay money for it?

It's a curated list of 30 movies per month. If you watch a film a day for a whole year off it you'll have a great tour of foreign, independent and classic cinema.
