We watched Chuck Norris Vs Communism last night, really enjoyed it, My partner is from eastern Europe and assures me this was a thing growing up for her in Bulgaria :)

I'd have liked it to have been a bit deeper and have gone into things like the political side of things there in Romania in greater detail but still it put a smile on my face at times and herself was in a world of nostalgia and even rang her sister at home to go pirate it off the internet .... can't break old habits I guess :D

The Gift is decent. I'd highly recommend The Guest but that's a film you'll either love or hate

For anyone thinking of watching The Ranch I lasted approximately 1 minute into the first episode and that was too much

The Gift, as mentioned already. Really dark movie.

The Voices is very dark too.

I'd go with Blue Ruin if you haven't seen it yet, that's the definition of dark and sombre.

I've seen Geust, Blue Ruin and Walk in Tombstones - loved them all, they're my kinda films!

Was thinking of watching The Gift maybe. Haven't heard of The Voices. Thanks.

Starry Eyes, More a horror but grim as f**k

Signed up to Mubi for the free 30days. We'll see how it goes. There's so many "indie/arthouse/foreign" films I've not seen and have been meaning to so if this 30day experiment works out I may keep it.

They're showing Hiroshima, Mon Amour which I really enjoyed when first watched it so looking forward to a second viewing.

Rewatched The Dish today, a very nice gentle Aussie comedy with Sam Neill. True story of the satellite dish that helped spread the moon landing pictures round the world.

I think Jason Batemans character is a d1ckhead in the film the gift and his wife acts like a doormat, Joel edgerton is really handsome in this film.

Lovely film, great evocation of an era.

Rewatched Toy Soldier's last night after nearly 10 years. Really enjoyable action flick from the early ninety's. Underrated at the time.

Just finished Michael Winners the Sentinal now and I've never seen so Many A-list stars in what is a pretty sub standard 70s horror flick Burgess Meredith, Eli WAllach, Ava Gardnar, Jeff Goldblum Christopher Walken to name a few.
