You can no problem, no need for a vpn or anything, though if you want the US version you need to sign up on the .com, there's no accessing of other content as you are locked to country you register

Oh, is this only recently available or am I thinking of some other streaming service?

It's been there for awhile, at the minute I have Netflix, Hulu and Prime and find myself downloading or streaming very little

Is there a way to see what's available on the Irish Prime? When I go to Amazon.ie it goes to the UK site. Is the streaming options the same for Ireland?

There is no Irish prime, if you sign up on UK sight you get that selection. You can go onto the site and search through amazon video and prime

Enjoying the second season of Grace & Frankie on Netflix, probably a bit more than Season 1. Mrs. Gucci really likes the show, but she is a big fan of Lily Tomlin so is probably pretty biased.

Also watched Deep Web on Saturday, interesting and well put together documentary on the dark net and silk road. I feel it probably asked more questions than it actually answered, but it was decent.

Again veering off topic, but what I do like about Amazon is the fact that it's not region blocked regarding your geolocation. I'm signed up the the American audible. Is there any benefit to singing up to the US Prime?

Netflix earns my money when it releases shows like Unbeatable Kimmy Schmidt, Bloodlines, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Sense8 and more. During the period where none of these are new releases, it can be hard to find something I'm interested in.

My understanding was that Amazon Prime's Video streaming service only worked in Ireland if you:

a.) had a UK Credit Card, AND
b.) were geolocated in the UK

I certainly get a 'geographical licensing problems' error when trying to watch anything through my Ireland based, Irish CC logged account. I'm guessing only one of those things is true?

I was looking it up last night and the only stuff I could find about issues with Ireland related to the other parts of the service, like next day delivery and that kind of thing. No mention of the the streaming being an issue.

I was planning on signing up for the 30 day free trial this weekend. I'll report back.

I wonder if they separate the shipping aspects and the streaming aspects of Prime? I mean you can't get next day shipping, et al, but you should be able to get their streaming service.

I have Prime for over a year now. Got an Amazon Fire TV box delivered to Parcel Motel and it is super. The catalog is not as big as Netflix but it does have some good exclusives like Vikings etc. You only need a UK credit card if you want to purchase or rent movies which are not included in Prime. But there is a work around :) The Prime music streaming service is also included and it is also superb. The only thing we (in Ireland) are missing out on is the free delivery but it's not a problem for me. Well worth €100 per year imo.

Do you have to have a Fire TV/stick for it to work? Or can you just stream it from your laptop to TV like Netflix?

Folks this is a thread for Netflix recommendations.

If you want to discuss Amazon Prime, the Online TV forum is a better bet:

I'm watching it at the moment didn't notice the flag but one guy did mention Ireland. Omg that Leith place is an absolute horrible sh1thole, it looks like Hell on earth, they don't even have proper roads.

Didn't notice that! I was too distracted by how f*ckin thick the guy was to be putting up European flags in an American backwater. What a moron. He'd do well in Belfast.

Great documentary though, very well made, particularly loved the sound design and how it was shot. Felt very sorry for the residents, and also the cops trying to keep the peace in a delicate situation.

I've just finished watching "The Champions", the documentary about the pit bull dogs removed from Michael Vick. I've been looking forward to watching it for a while, it really is a great watch.

Really good. One of those documentaries that restores your faith in humanity. Although I didn't really like the radio presenter guy. Don't know what he was trying to achieve going after Vick considering he's served his time in jail, surely he should be going after the NFL for allowing him to play. Doesn't paint PETA in a great light. I've also spent hours trying to find the score online to no avail :(

Whatever about my faith in humanity, I hope this changes even one persons opinions on these fantastic dogs.

Not a film but 'Top Of The Lake'well worth checking out. Elisabeth Moss( Peggy from Mad Men- looking quite tasty might I add) plays a child protection officer/dectective who is returning home to New Zealand to visit her sick mother, whilst she is there a pregnant 13 year old girl goes missing and she is drafted in to assist on the case. As she delves deeper into the case she falls foul of a local criminal gang and discovers sinister and disturbing revelations about her idyllic hometown. Scenery is amazing and cast is pretty solid. Had me gripped from the get go and blitzed through the 7 episodes in a couple of nights. Well worth checking out!

I thought Top of the Lake was an excellent mini-series. Really good mix of drama and cop detective stuff. I was also gripped from the offset

Again not a film but BBC's Shark series from last year has been added to Irish Netflix today. A two part series about, you guessed it, sharks. Really fascinating stuff with some incredible footage of a variety of sharks doing a variety of things. None of your Shark Week pseudo science Sharknado nonsense.

Still cheaper than a TV licence, and me and my partner have two sets of mom and dads using our Netflix on SmartTVs so I consider it a saving.
