It actually is bad alright. Such a shame I love TPB I usually think it's hilarious. Didn't work at all though!

Yeah. The fake customs check in Ireland was awful too. For some reason the Irish actors put on really Oirish accents. Really got on my wick.

Thought Season 3 of Sherlock was supposed to be on the Irish Netflix? Only 1 & 2 are there for me?

I think it might only be on the uk one? They do have the odd thing different. It's definitely in Canada anyway.

Could be! RTE possibly blocking it here. Don't think RTE have shown season 3 yet?

Finally sat down and watched Devil's Knot and found the entire thing to be a pointless waste of time. It's a film made it would seem for those people who find the concept of watching a documentary completely alien. in it's near 2 hour run time there's only a single moment that packs any power and even then it feels like cheap exploitation. There is no doubt that the case is fascinating and the manner in which a town turned on three of it's own is ripe for a gripping tale but sadly Devil's Knot looks and plays out like a cheap, made for TV midweek movie. The biggest compliment you can pay it is that it's a serviceable procedural. Anyone interested in watching the film would be best advised to seek out the trio of Paradise Lose documentaries

I'm a big believer that the WM3 are guilty as sin so I watched this straight away when it was briefly on Netflix. It's an awful film (apart from a pretty powerful 10 mins at the beginning) and Colin Firth's character is utterly pointless. The PL docs are one sided so skip them and research the case here http://callahan.8k.com/documents_az.html if you want an unbiased view.

I've read up on the case and do think that the WM3 are not the innocent party they are made out to be but at the same time I'm not convinced that they are murderers. My problem with the docs and the film is that they all go out of their way to point their finger at other people but offer up even less evidence that what was used in the trial. The hair found in the lace proves nothing and from what I understand it could have came from 1.5% of the population of the USA. Even if it belongs to the stepfather then there are a thousand ways it could have hot there. The second hair found at the scene again is useless as evidence, that it was collected weeks after the fact says it all.

Echols from everything that's out there comes across as a nasty piece of work. He seemed to take pleasure in torturing animals and had serious mental issues. There's a file online with a number of psychiatric reports on him and it reads like something you'd see on Criminal Minds. All three of them had a history of violence and you could easily believe them cake able of the murders. That said the state really made a balls of the prosecution, most all the evidence was circumstantial, their witnesses were a joke and the interview tapes stink of manipulation and careful editing.

I think that the biggest problem with the Paradise Lost films is how biased they are. The second and third film have a clear agenda and that's finding another suspect. And that's admirable but the way that they keep pointing the finger at different people is just sickening and goes against everything that they wanted to so with the first film. The irony of what they were doing seems completely lost on all involved.

I watched the first PL doc a few years ago and believed them to be innocent, even though a lack of alibi for all 3 was in the back of my mind. I then read Jessie Misskelleys Bible Confession and changed my mind. This confession was made to his attorney, after he was convicted, in a room with just the two of them in it.

Have you seen The Thin Blue Line? It's on Netflix and is probably the best crime doc ever made. Watch it and then compare it to the PL docs.

I've watched the The Thin Blue Line many a time and even write a paper on it in college. It's an unbiased telling of a tale where as PL has a clear agenda from the get go.

Upstream Colour added to the Irish site. Great movie but won't be for everyone.

Watched the Road last night. Still trying to figure out the ending but i have a theory. It is a very bleak depressing movie, which i guess is the point. I did enjoy it, maybe 7 out of 10, but just be in the right mood to watch it.
I have to laugh at people who watch it expecting to see the Apocalypse in action :p

If anyone is on the fence about this, just dive in. Upstream Color is on a different level to 99.99% of contemporary cinema, and there's basically never been anything like it. Watch it once, then watch it again.

I gave Orange Is The New Black a go the other day but I can't say I was impressed. Granted I only watched the first episode so maybe it gets better?

I was bored after work late last week and gave first few ep a go, I think it's well made and entertaining .

+1 to Orange is the New Black. Gave it a go at the weekend and we're 5 episodes in already. Great show. They got the humour just right though Captain Janeway is a bit OTT. I quite like the "LOST" style flashbacks teasing the characters back story.

And let's not forget that The Art of The Steal was added last week. It's a light, easy to watch fun romp that features only the second performance by the great Kurt Russell in 7 years. It's a the perfect quiet night in or post pub film.

Kurt's best performance was 12 years ago in the seriously underrated Dark Blue. I'll check out The Art of the Steal even though Jay Barouchel has the most annoying voice in film.
