seems to happen all the time, don't know if its the box or saorview itself

*a quick fix is to change between channels, but yes its annoying

    Hi Steveon,

My last update for this box was in February (I think)?

    Has there another one since?

    Thanks JOSman

I've used your channel list. I've moved a one channel further up the order closer to the Irish channels but the channel number doesn't change. Is it possible to change this?

Turn off "LCN" in the settings and should sort it

    Changing the 'LCN' setting worked.
But now I've noticed when I record say Channel 4 I can only view other C4 channels such as Film4 & E4. The Irish channels are still viewable too, but all the others (BBC & ITV etc) disappear from the channel list. Anyone know whats up?

It was fine until I updated the box a few days ago.
There just seems to be problem after problem with this box...

I have no idea how you thought you could before but you can only ever watch another satellite channel which is on the same frequency as it only has a single sat tuner (and single terrestrial tuner). also now that a second mux has started on saorview you will only be able to record and watch another saorview channel on the same mux (eg you won't be able to watch rte2 hd while recording rte1 hd because they are now broadcast on a different mux)

Ahh I see, I don't use the box very often. I'm updating it in my parents house.

my triax keeps finding new terrestial channels and bumping my bbc ni, I delte them but they keep coming back its either the new channels from mux 2 or the old channels from mux 1. I have LCN off but in my settings section doesn't give me the option to turn of auto search as has been mentioned elsewhere!

The TSC114 doesn't seem to have the option to turn off auto search in standby. It's shown in the pictures of the menus in the manual but, isn't mentioned in the text.

I'm pretty sure some other Triax receivers, such as the TR212, have this option in the setting menu.

The duplicate channels should be gone fairly soon anyway.

your spot on peter, pictured in the manual but not on screen. BTw brought the saorview tv into the attic this evening and connected aerial to it, left it on and no reception problems!!

Just did a re-scan (all channels), as recommended by Saorview, and now I don't seem to have any of the satellite channels though I did see them coming up as the search progressed.

You didn't need to rescan all channels, only terrestrial.

  • Registered Users Posts: 793 ✭✭✭tatoo

Right, that makes sense I suppose,
    what do i do now?

    Hi,
I'm new to boards.ie & if i'm in the wrong place please direct me to correct thread.

I had a Triax tsc114 put in about a year ago.
I can't remember password, which was changed from 0000 when being set up.
Channel 1 (RTE 1) tells me to rescan, which I don't know how to do.
Also, I don't know how do I reset the password, when I don't have existing password.

    All help greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I am having difficulty scanning for dvb-t channels (saorview) without also scanning for the satellite channels, which I don't want to do (as I downloaded a good channel list on here but saorview needs a retune for my area).

Can one be done without the other? Cheers

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭kooga

in set up you have a choice of three: dvb t scan, sat scan or all scan.

have just dvb t scan on

Is there a general consensus from owners here that this is a good box? Seems awfully overpriced for what it is?

I do agree with you that it is a good box to buy anywhere either via a retailer or having an option by getting it from an installer. However; I do think that it is a tad overpriced.

From I where I live the signal range for Saorview I normally is really good.

Most of the channels on Satellite are good too. But there are some feeds mainly from the ITV HD channels (Meridian & Central) & STV HD that are not great which I'd say is down to the feed from the Astra Satellite itself and is not the problem of the receiver.

I read recently that Argos are currently selling the box again in a christmas gift guide for €130 which isn't much when I bought it for €165 at one of their stores last year in Dun Laoghaire.

I can't even find the link for that reduced price unfortunately.

    Would this be the link?

Mind you, it says at the bottom of the page thsat it was previously on sale for €119.99. Go figure ;).

Thats typical argos, they rack up the price for a day to give the impression that there is a large discount when sale time comes. The €119.99 price is the price it has consistently been at.

Yeah that is it. €119.99 was surely a great bargain for that box.

I was trying to find that page under the ''Digital Boxes and Services'' link when you hit the Home Entertainment banner. Nothing came up. I even attempted to type in Triax TSC 114 in the search box and again no page came up for it at all.

Why don't Argos put things in the proper place on that site? I don't think this is a good thing to do business wise as they are obliged to sell that product themselves under instruction from Saorview. If they are any other mistakes on the site; Argos should be checking them out for errors.

I probably have said this before on another thread that if anyone buys this box in-store; the only way you get it is at the till. There isn't any point in going in looking the catalogue because apparently they give you a message saying it is possibly sold out while it is not the case at all under any circumstances.

Hi KBO, same thing happened mine last sunday. Did you get this resolved or is the unit scrap???

Hi Guys. Apologies if this has appeared on the thread already.
My RTE1 is blank on my channel list - the channel is there alright and I can watch away, but the text "RTE 1" isn't there, and the box says that a re-scan is required. I can't see any program information for the channel. There's one or two other channels like this.

I did a re-scan but this made no difference.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

Just watch the RTE1 HD channel instead. The other RTE1 you are seeing in SD is the duplicate version which will soon be deleted off Saorview along with the duplicate RTE Junior and RTE1+1 that are also listed blank.

I would say if you have both MUX 1 and 2 on Saorview already don't do any more re-scans. What you have there is already perfect.

Anyone know a way of converting programs recorded with this box into avi or mp4 files.
The box records the programs as tsv files.
