Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A chara, – My mortgage provider is forever at pains to remind me that I am not the legal owner of my home until the final payment is made. Considering this, the implication has to be that my mortgage provider is the legal “owner” of my home, and considering that, is it not therefore the case that my mortgage provider is liable for the household charge to be applied to my (still to be paid for) home, and not me? Please tell me I have found a loophole? – Yours, etc,

Look, the banks managed to get the government to help them out of their woes because of their mismanagement, I think they'll get themselves out of this little snag - especially once the household charge is inevitably increased to say €1000 p/a.

If you leave a car in the driveway you don't need to pay for tax, insurance, servicing or fuel.

if someone else uses your car and gets caught on a speed camera or M50 toll then you have to prove it wasn't you.

I don't have to pay for bin charges, electricity, gas if I choose not to use them.

Our governments have messed up the civil servants being able to claim back the tax on pension, they messed up on the youth employment levy, there are many examples of tax loopholes in the past from badly worded laws, though the vast majority of these only benefited the rich.

If you don't have a house you don't pay the household charge. If you have a house and decided to live on the street you have to pay the household charge.
