I am attempting to cultivate a bit of rough ground for first time, heavy clay in shade. Should I add some chicken pellets/compost/peat as I work away this month or should I wait until later, maybe second dig over and nearer planting time? Runner beans did surprisingly well in nearby shady corner last year so hope to extend…
