Hi, wasnt sure where to put this.. But a 'strange' question has arisen. Do you have to write a final thesis/research project in Ireland when you study for Bachelor's degree? What length it is , if you do?

aaand... do you freely choose on waht you will write and then tell your tutor, lecturer or whoever, what you will write about? Or do they give you somethign to choose from?

    Just wondering...:pac:

If it's a four year (honours) degree yes. 10,000 to 15,000 words depends on the school. Usually completed over six or seven months during your final year.

Most schools will post a list of topics with details of the supervisor involved and you apply, whether you get it depends on how many people want the same topic and your gpa. If you have an idea for a thesis of your own then you approach the supervisor who you want to work with and it's up to them if they are willing to act as your supervisor.

Each college will have its own requirements.

You do it in 3 year degree courses too, but it depends on the course of course.

For example part of my 3 year Economics degree is a 7,000 word research thesis in 3rd year, worth 5 credits (1 module). You are given a choice of topics to do it on and assigned a tutor who supervises you. Ours is completed over the 12 weeks of semester 2.
