Blame the EU, it's their regulations that have forced it.

Can 't get over that photo of the crew heaving up the lines by hand. What kind of amateur hour is this?! Some of them have correct PPE, some haven't even bothered with that. Surely with all the gizmo's and technology this 21st century warship has they can stick on a windlass and free up 80% of those sailors.

Reading a book at the moment about a trip on the Gerd Mearsk and there are two crew on the focscle for mooring operations...

Stared at the second photo of LE William Butler Yeats for far too long before I realised that she does not, in fact, have a clock tower...

    :D

(Does anyone else find it odd referring to a ship with a male name as "she"?)

Down to the Sea in Ships: Of Ageless Oceans and Modern Men

    https://www.amazon.com/Down-Sea-Ships-Ageless-Oceans/dp/0701183101

Writer does a trip aboard the Maersk Gerd and details the daily life aboard (well, his daily life). A few historic anecdotes along the way too. It's worth a read, I picked it up in the local library, but I wouldn't pay for it. The life at sea is notoriously dull for readers, I've never found an interesting read about modern shipping.

Was working on the skandi skansen and while in Den helder,Netherlands we got a visitor onboard that had made a real model of the Skansen.
I was really impressed with the work he had put down.
I dont think it was a detail he had missed.
You can drive the boat, use the crane,A-frame and winches.
