Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We had a Lim bull out of rocky for the last few years and very happy with him. a few people have asked how we found him and are suprised when i say how quite he was and that we had no troublw with him. from a calving point the only issues we had were with the BBX cows, the rest were fine.

were we lucky with our fella or have some of you had them too as some folks are very wary of them?

I use Rocky fairly regularly but in fairness I put him on my quieter cows. He throws decent calves off them so that's why I use him. Alot of guys coming to me for bulls don't like him but IMO temperment has as much to do with the cow as the bull so that's why I use him on certain cows only. I've yet to have complaints about troublesome bulls off him that I've sold and a few guys have come back for bulls off the same cow and Rocky.

4 stars for docility and only 1 star for calving (within breed). That's what Irish farmers are saying aanyway.

i used him here a few years ago.good stock off him,the odd one might be lively enough but thats normal enough for limos.i kept 3 heifers off him for breeding a few years ago.it didnt go well.they all had very poor milk yeild, ended up culling the 3 of them over it

TBH i have never had any bother getting calving him , i have used him a bit on heifers over the years without any problem, in regard to docility it was a mixed bag from pets to nutcases - generally not too bad
anyone know anything about the new rocky son dovea has (MCH)

Origonally bought by a farmer so he must of been leaving nice stock for dovea to pick him up!

we'll see how the heifers go this year, have a few of them out of him. They are crossed with good milk cows (aa/fr, lim/fr and fr) so should be good from that side, reckon they are the quitest heifers we have had in a long time, the cows are moved in and out everyday so that they get used to being moved and used to people makes it much easier when handeling them. that said this years heifers are extra even more then their mothers so hope thats a good omen.
