Hey all...I was recommended to post on this forum,

I'm a 26 year old lad just moved to Sligo for a new job. My work is in the countryside and I work mainly on my own or with two other lads mid 40s married with young children etc.

Here's the problem I don't know a single person and I rent a 2 bed apartment so I don't have any house mates.

I'm not a big drinker or into playing sports but I am big in to hill walking, reading, cinema etc. Is there any good groups or other social activities I could join/or you could suggest as I don't fancy going to the pub on my own and I have little interest in the club scene any more :)

    Thanks for reading!

Tomorrow at 5:45 in The Model Gallery to kick off their double cinema screenings they are having a wine reception, followed by The Artist at 6:15 and The Descendants at 8:15!

There is also an artists talk and wine reception at 6pm tomorrow given by Kristan Horton, The Model's Artist-in-Residence. more info here.

All the above are free (except of course the cinema tickets admission).

Hi OP, welcome to Sligeach, the land of the Heart's Desire! :)

You didn't mention that you were into your athletics / fitness, but just to say there's a good friendly Triathlon club in Sligo that are very welcoming & approachable
    http://www.sligotriathlon.ie/

(actually there's a new members Welcome Night coming up - 8pm Monday 12 March 2012 in the Glasshouse hotel...)

Mightn't be exactly your thing fair enough - but there are members there into their hiking, mountaineering, cycling, mountain-biking, surfing etc etc etc etc and happy to advise...
